Event number 437
8th August 2026
70 people braved the blustery, grey and chilly weather to run, jog and walk the course this morning. Atleast the rain was fairly kind with just a few showers.

16 were first timers and, despite the very average conditions, 6 recorded new Personal Bests. Well done! Congratulations to Mitchell Ryan, Ethan Ryan, Rob Johnson, Terence Cunningham, Christopher Symes and John Vales.

Representatives of 8 different clubs took part and a special shout-out to two of our regular volunteers - Peter Riddle & Terry Thompson - who both achieved the 250 Milestone. Well done, Peter & Terry - we love your work!

We had visitors from Sydney and Melbourne. Thank you for visiting us and hope to see you back here again!

The event was made possible by 12 wonderful volunteers, including our visitors from Melbourne - thank you Peter and Lyn for contributing in so many ways today. Our photographer from today took their duties very seriously, as you will see from the photos, making sure no recalcitrant raindrops spoiled the photo quality - much appreciated, John!

Thanks to:
Peter BLACK • Lyn BLACK • John MARKETIS • Prashanth BALASUBRAMANIAM • Robert EVANS • Veronica LEE • Ollie WIECZOREK • Kirsty ATKINSON • Fiona KOUTAS • Glenda LOGAN • Stewart GLASS • Dylan WILLIAMS

A special thanks also to our fabulous coffee sponsors, Goodness Coffee Co. who seemed to provide as much post-event hot chocolate as coffee today. Thank you team, very grateful for your support.

Another Cold Morning...
Another Warm Community!

Winter certainly reminded us who's in charge this morning, greeting us with a decidedly brisk 6.3°C. It's probably the least welcoming "Welcome!" we could offer our visitor from Darwin... although we're guessing our tourist from Port Lincoln simply shrugged and thought, "This? This is nothing!"

Speaking of visitors, if ever you travel from another parkrun to join us, please let us know! We genuinely love hearing where you've come from, and we're always delighted that you've chosen what we proudly believe is **South Australia's most beautiful parkrun course.

The weather may have been chilly, but the atmosphere certainly wasn't. A fantastic 113 walkers, joggers and runners enjoyed one of Aldinga Beach's rarest natural phenomena... a non-windy Saturday morning! Some days really are worth framing.

**PERSONAL BESTS**
Congratulations to the 11 participants who succeeded in setting new PBs:

Charlie Trewartha (21:27) Nelli Penzes (21:49) Justin Hill (22:31)
Max O'Grady (28:17) Natasha Biggins (31:24) Alexandra Van Onselen (32:25)
Jess Frost (33:59) Steven Smith (34:10) Jake Christison (34:19)
Lee Keogh (35:24)and Sheila Wrathmall (43:02)
**Outstanding running by every one of you!**

Representatives from five different clubs also joined us today, adding even more colour to our growing parkrun family.

**ABSOLUTE FIRST TIMERS**
There's something special about seeing people discover parkrun for the very first time. A huge Aldinga Beach welcome to our Absolute First Timers:

Scott Maxwell, Michelle Turner, Heather Kitto and Leanne Barnes
You've officially scratched the parkrun itch! Don't be surprised if Saturday mornings are never quite the same again!

We also welcomed 13 visitors who experienced the Aldinga Beach course for the very first time. We hope the clifftop views, fresh sea air and friendly community have convinced you to visit us again soon.

**MILESTONES**
Congratulations to Dion Moyse, who completed his first-ever volunteer role today!
parkrun only happens because people step forward to help.
Thank you for becoming part of the team!

Ciaran Allman quietly slipped into the 100 Run Club with very little fanfare! Thankfully, we're more than happy to make a bit of noise on your behalf!
**Congratulations, both of you, on these achievements!**

**OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS** (Sample below...):
Today's event was made possible by these wonderful people:

**The ULTIMATE Finish Line...**
Once the last barcode had been scanned and the equipment packed away, many of us continued our favourite Aldinga Beach tradition by gathering at Goodness Coffee Co. On a morning like this, the aroma of fresh coffee, warm drinks and friendly conversation was exactly what everyone needed.

We're incredibly grateful that Goodness generously provides **complimentary refreshments for every volunteer** each week. Their ongoing support means so much to our event and our volunteers, and we sincerely thank them for being such an important part of the Aldinga Beach parkrun family.

If you haven't already, have a look at our featured article (https://www.parkrun.com.au/aldingabeach/news/2026/07/18/volunteer-highlight-goodness-coffee-co/) about Goodness Coffee Co. and discover why they're one of our favourite local businesses.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend... whether you walked, jogged, ran, volunteered, spectated or simply cheered someone across the finish line.

We'll do it all again next Saturday... hopefully with just as little wind... and perhaps just a couple (dozen!) more degrees! 😎
