PF Result #3: I1s

The best one to write because this comes with positive news.

When you consider our Inters have gone from a tough couple of seasons (over a 1000 days without a win) to qualifying for a Grand Final next week it is truly a excellent exceptional extraordinary story.

Today’s performance was clinical.

Poor old Barossa District never really looked in the game & apart from a first quarter which felt like it went forever (a total of 31 goals scored by both 2 teams; over 2 a minute) our girls were never really troubled.

It’s hard to pick a stand out player although Alana in defence did some amazing interceptions & our shooters were close to perfect most of the game & our mid court fed them so quickly & so skilfully. All in all. It was a delight to watch.

Thanks also to those Juniors players who sat on the bench & played key moments on court to give the Inters a rest or allow for positional changes.

The score really is a bit generous to BD as we did take the foot off the pedal in Q4 & Michael popped players in different positions. Just in case.

Onto Kapunda in the GF.

Now — this season we’ve drawn with them & we’ve lost to them (without a full contingent of players) — but we are soooooo capable of beating them. And you’ve only gotta beat em once. In the right game.

& next week feels like it …

See you at Willaston 💙🤍💙🤍

PF result #2: S6s

This game was played in near tropical conditions (or at least pretty warm for netball) & our ladies had plenty of chances to win it but it just wasn’t our day.

Little things didn’t go right. Deflections went straight to the opposition rather than us. We made a few too many basic mistakes. Things like that.

Jane Horder in GK was a rock & a clear standout for BOC.

Everyone worked hard in the heat but we didn’t always take our chances when we should’ve.

Still as the only Seniors team in the finals this season we’re all super impressed with our Sixers. Top work.

PF result #1: SJ1s

So it’s been a hectic day with three games back to back (to back).

Unfortunately Sub Junior 1s didn’t get the result they wanted. This was a tightly fought game with close scores all day including our girls being 5 goals up at one point in the third quarter.

But Preliminary Finals are perhaps more pressure than Grand Finals cos it feels like there’s more on the line. And ultimately we made a few more mistakes than Tanunda which cost us the game.

It was a great effort to get this far. And though losing hurts, the girls should feel super proud of their excellent season. Playing finals always makes us better players.

Here’s to next year.

Final bit of good news for the day.

Congrats to our Senior 6s who defeated GC 56-39.

It was a dynamite game to watch with every player on the court doing their role brilliantly. A genuine full team victory.

& to add that perfect little bit of spice on the cake, GC beat our girls both times during the regular season. (You only need to win, the ones you *need* to win 🤩).

So we’ll have 3 teams next week to come & cheer for; 2 juniors & a senior.

Go ANGO!

Congrats to Sub Junior 1s. They beat Gawler Centrals (always a pleasant sentence to write) by 17 thumping goals.

So their finals journey continues next week against Tanunda (at Freeling).

Make sure you come along to cheer them on 🤩

(Apologies for the delay) but bad luck to the Inter 2s who lost today to Nuri.

Apart from the first quarter where they got the jump on us everyone played really well and fought hard.

And when you remember that it’s been a rough couple of years for our Inters teams to go from *not winning games* to *both teams making finals* — the girls should all feel incredibly proud of what they achieved this season.

Not quite there for the Inter 1s unfortunately.

We wait till tomorrow to find out whether we play GC or BD in 2 weeks time.

EDIT: next week (you can tell which game I’m focussed on 😝)
