The 2026/27 season started on Saturday 10th October with our BOIDC First Grade taking on last year’s GFinalists Orange CYMS at LOCO.
There may not have been a game if it was not for Josh Toole who spent his own time to rectify a significant water leak at the mains which meant Hendo did not have any water until Thursday. Similarly, the old roller is on its last legs and sits on a hoist at Brendo’s workshop with his spare roller now doing pitch preparation. These two club members demonstrated what makes clubs like ours as strong as we are, a willingness to step up and in without question to help out with time and resources. Much gratitude to both along with Hendo for having LOCO ready and looking amazing on Saturday and the wicket played as well as ever.
Not the result our new captain, Kurt Toole was looking for, but we did see 4 players play their first game for Colts in Ben Noonan, Liam King, Calvin Windus and Inderjeet Saini. Luke Muir also returned after 12 months on the sidelines with injury.
Luke ⭐️was outstanding with 5/30 off his 8 overs, along with Inderjeet 3/29 (7 overs), who took a wicket with his first ball for the club.
Henry Shoemark ⭐️ was outstanding with the bat with 61 off 49 balls. Henry will now play the Presidents Cup with his son Sid and without doubt will be missed by First Grade, but the Presidents Cup kids will learn so much from this fabulous cricketer and person.
