The little things matter.
The way you stand up from a chair.
How you brace before a movement.
Where you're feeling an exercise and where you're not.
For many people, especially as we get older, it's not just about exercising. It's about understanding how to move well, building confidence and knowing that what you're doing is right for your body.
That's one of the things we love about small group training.
There's time to ask questions. Time to learn. Time for coaching that goes beyond simply counting reps.
Sometimes progress comes from lifting a little heavier.
Sometimes it comes from a coach kneeling beside you, explaining a movement in a way that finally makes sense.
Because feeling stronger starts with understanding what your body is doingβand believing that you're capable of more than you think.

Once upon a time, someone decided to run a lap between boxing rounds. Then someone else joined in. Then another. And before long, it became a regular part of the class.
Not because it was programmed. Just because the group got behind it and it became part of the fun.
Now it's just a staple in our BoxFit classes. Between rounds you'll find people heading off on their lap, encouraging each other, having a laugh and pushing themselves further than they thought they would.
Fitness doesn't have to feel like hard work. It's the energy of the people around you that gets you moving.
A little extra effort. A lot of encouragement. Plenty of laughs.
And everyone leaving feeling fabulous for it. ππ₯πββοΈπββοΈπͺ

Thereβs something special about training with someone you care about.
A friend, partner, sibling, parent or even your teenage son or daughter.
It's not really about pushing each other harder. It's about showing up together.
On the days motivation is low, someone is waiting for you. The commitment becomes bigger than just yourself.
Fitness can be one of the few things in life where you get to spend quality time together while also investing in your health.
Years from now, you probably won't remember every workout.
But you'll remember who was beside you.

Strength training isn't just about building muscle. It's about giving your body the stimulus it needs to stay healthy, capable and resilient.
Strong muscles help support your joints. They help you move well, recover better and continue doing the things you enjoy for longer.
Strength training also plays an important role in maintaining bone health, supporting metabolism, improving balance and coordination, and preserving physical function throughout life.
The human body is designed to adapt to the demands placed upon it. When we challenge it appropriately, it responds.
That's why strength training isn't just exercise.
It's one of the most powerful investments you can make in your long-term health.

I joined ABFH because I noticed a decline in my strength and fitness and saw an add for a 12 week menopause/perimenopause programme. After meeting with Steve and he explaining how their gym worked and what they were about, I felt this was the gym for me.
Since joining I have noticed my strength and fitness improving that I and am more aware of my health, fitness and nutrition. I wouldn't call myself a someone that has exercise and eat correctly everyday and I don't always do what I should but I do notice when I am not doing the things I should and this helps me get back to a healthier routine.
What has surprised me most is that I have been a member for just over a year now, I struggle to keep to a routine and usually try things and then stop and have been a member of gyms before but never stayed past the promotional period. the most surprising thing for me is I actually enjoy the cardio classes as I do not like cardio.
I haven't been going to the gym every week for a year as I have had times where I have struggled with life and my mental health but they are ok with that which is also why I love the gym, they are very supportive and genuinely care about helping you achieve YOUR goals not theirs or anyone else's, and understand that sometimes you slip and help you get back on track without judgment, they're just happy to see you back.
I love the small classes and the trainers, I also like that they walk around to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly, if you are struggling they give you a different option of the exercise or if it seems like you are capable of more suggest a heavier weight. I also like the fact that sometimes there is a bit of laughter in the classes because no-one takes themselves too seriously and they are all there for the same reason, to improve their health and achieve their goals and not be in competition with anyone else.

Chris (owner and resident Exercise Physiologist) putting his magic movement brain to work creating our next block of classes. Look at the cheeky smile! What is in store for us this block π€π
But in all seriousness, while most people see a workout, Chris sees a plan.
Every 8-week block at Above & Beyond Fitness Hub is carefully designed to ensure each class has a purpose and each week builds on the last.
It's not about making people as tired as possible. It's about helping people move better, get stronger, improve fitness, build confidence and stay consistent long enough to see real results.
When Chris designs a training block, he's considering things like:
β
Progressive overload (gradually improving strength and fitness over time)
β
Recovery and fatigue management (so your body can adapt rather than just survive)
β
Movement patterns and balance (making sure the whole body is trained effectively)
β
Different fitness levels and abilities (because not everyone starts in the same place)
β
Long-term health, mobility and injury prevention
The science is actually quite simple: the body adapts to the stress you place on it. Too little and nothing changes. Too much and recovery suffers. The sweet spot is applying the right amount of challenge at the right time, then building on it week after week.
That's why our classes aren't random workouts pulled from the internet. They're part of a bigger plan designed to help everyday people become stronger, fitter and healthier for the long haul. πͺ
