📣 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT — NEW KIDS DIVISION STRUCTURE

Starting from our next event,
we will be introducing a new structure for our kids divisions.

Previously, kids divisions were grouped as:
NOVICE: White belts + Grey/White belts
GENERAL: All belt levels

From Summer 2026, the structure will change to:

NOVICE:
White belts + Grey/White belts only

INTERMEDIATE:
All belt levels except Orange and Green belts

ADVANCED:
All belt levels except White and Grey/White belts

The purpose of this change is to provide competitors with more suitable division options and fairer match-ups, while reducing the skill-level gaps that can occur within kids brackets.

We believe the new Novice / Intermediate / Advanced structure will help create better-balanced and more competitive divisions for our young athletes.

The new structure will take effect from:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 🚨
We are looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday for the BJJ Australian Open - Spring 2026.
Brackets and schedule are now published and available for viewing on your smoothcomp profile page.
START TIME: Competitors who are competing at 9am are encouraged to arrive at 8am (NSW time) to allow check-in and weigh-in time before their first match.
We OPEN DOORS and commence weighing-in at 8am.
We will be prioritizing entry for those competing first at 9am.
DYNAMIC SCHEDULE: We recommend being logged in on your mobile device throughout the event to keep track of your matches.
The schedule is dynamic and match times change as the day goes. Please arrive at the event at least an hour before your first match to allow for changes. Competitors must be ready to compete at their mat, half hour before their scheduled match in case we’re running ahead of schedule.
WEIGH-INS: Gi competitors will be weighing in wearing their uniform. Competitors weight has to be exactly on or under the weight limit of their bracket. There will be no weight allowance and failing to make weight will result in an immediate disqualification.
COACHING: No coaches or parents are allowed inside the bull pen except for parents of competitors in the ‘Mighty Might’ age groups (4, 5 and 6yo). Competitors in the ‘Mighty Might’ age groups will be allowed one guardian / coach each to enter the bull pen while they are competing.
SPECTATORS are welcome! $15 at the door. Kids under 12yo are free.
OUTDOOR AREA: Will have food & coffee stalls, music, and if weather allows, it is a great space to relax and recharge between divisions.
UNIFORMS: Merch and equipment stall by will have all your Jiu Jitsu needs available for purchase in the day.
SINGLE USE POLICY: we encourage everyone to bring your reusable water bottles and coffee cups. The venue is now featuring cooled, filtered water fountains, available for free refill.
