Strap yourselves in, here's our wrap for Event #377…
Brrr, after a mild autumn, our first winter event for 2026 was a fffffoggy and brisk one. It will get colder, no doubt, but today was a day for gloves and long sleeves!
When it's a fresh morning like this it's always good to consider and appreciate our volunteers. Especially those at the finish line who don't have the luxury of 5km to warm them up. Although, a shout out to Sam who ran first, barcode scanned second, and scored himself a course PB along the way. Nice one!
Congrats Kirsten, to one of our locals, for reaching her 100 milestone (44 at Mount Ainslie). And, according to the results, there were no other milestones recorded today, so Kirsten gets all the glory to herself. Bravo!
For Canberra's second long-weekend in a row our numbers dropped off compared to recent weeks, but there were still 201 finishes. That's a great result. It doesn't see like that long ago that a field of 200+ was a rare occurrence.
We welcomed visitors from warmer climes such as Northern Rivers, Mooloolaba, Newcastle, Adelaide, Kiribati and England (it's true, they're having a heat wave at the moment). Oh, and at least one tourist Melbourne!
Today's event was brought to you by the following super folks who donned vollie vests:
Giles — Course Setup/Check and Run Director
Thomas — Timekeeper
Ada — Finish Tokens
Holly, Pip, Sam F, Sam H — Barcode Scanning
Olivia — Marshal
Jen — Photographer
Josie — parkwalker
Zoe — Tail Walker
Alasdair, Arthur, Robbie — Equipment wranglers
Liam, Sandeep — Back of house
Some quick numbers to finish with: 16 volunteers, 201 finishes, 33 first timers, 23 PBs, 99 men, 80 women, 22 unknowns. We love you all and thank you for playing your part in another successful Mount Ainslie parkrun.
We'll be here again next Saturday, can't wait! 🧡

Welcome to our wrap up for Event #376
The day began with spectacular pink and orange sunrise clouds, that made way for bright blue skies at parkrun time.
In keeping, there were also some spectacular pink, and orange, running shoes and attire in today's field of 247 finishers! Yep, another healthy turnout on our trails, which we love to see.
We welcomed 49 first timers to Mount Ainslie parkrun, including 9 debutants. There were a few people across from Adelaide, who may or may not have picked up our visitors from Geelong on the way. Heading north, we had tourists from Sydney, Taree and Ipswich as well.
Our event was brought to you thanks to 12 volunteers, including Emily on barcode scanning making her first time vollie appearance.
Please give a round of applause and hearty thank you to all of today's helpers:
Alasdair — Run Director
Kate — Setup, course check, marshal & border collie guardian
Cassie — Timekeeper
Peter — Finish Tokens
Brian, Emily, Helen & Sam — Barcode scanning
Vivek — Photographer
Jo — Tail Walker
Liam & Sandeep — Back of house
Keep the applause going for the following folks who reached milestones:
Bailey — Junior 10
Owen, Mogen — 25 parkruns
Estelle — 50 parkruns
Pamela — 300 parkruns
That concludes our last Autumn event for 2026 — haven't we been enjoying a mild lead in to winter so far. We're sure there will brisk and freezing mornings on their way soon. Either way, we'll be here to warm you up with beaming smiles and colourful running gear!
Thank you to everyone who joined us today. Have a great long weekend.
