Asia Pacific Tournament | WPACT Representation 🤽♂️🤽♀️
A big congratulations to the 8 WPACT athletes and 2 officials who have just wrapped up their time at the Asia Pacific Tournament in Brisbane! 👏
The Asia Pacific Tournament brought together teams from across Australia and New Zealand, with the Women’s competition featuring five teams - one from New Zealand and four from Queensland - while the Men’s competition featured seven teams, with one from Sydney, two from New Zealand and four from Queensland.
🏆 BARBARIANS MEN | GOLD
A huge congratulations to Byron MacDonald and Lachie Newman, who took out the Men’s title with the Barbarians after a thrilling 13 - 12 win over tournament favourites Cronulla. Byron had an outstanding tournament in goals, finishing with the Most Blocks and Steals across the competition 🥇👏
🥉 AUS COUNTRY WOMEN | BRONZE
Eilis Rogis, Sarah Purcell and Caitlin Leather helped Aus Country secure bronze, finishing with a 15–2 win over the Barbarians in the bronze medal playoff. In the final, Eilis kept a clean sheet during the first half in goals, while Caitlin scored four goals! 🥉👏
🇦🇺 AUS COUNTRY MEN | 5TH
Ben Jorritsma, Callum Stewart-Thomson and Campbell Ellison finished the tournament in 5th place after a strong last-quarter comeback saw them defeat the WPQ Sharks Academy 14 - 12. Campbell was named Player of the Match, scoring two goals, while Callum also found the back of the net 👏
🧑⚖️ WPACT OFFICIALS
Josh O’Keeffe was selected to referee the Women’s Bronze Medal match, while Don represented WPACT as one of the tournament’s referee delegates.
