How do you make a punch look like it connects without actually hitting someone?

This is one of the basic principles of screen combat.

In this video I show how a simple right hand can be performed safely with plenty of distance, but by changing the camera position and using the right reaction, it can look like the punch lands cleanly.

The strike, the reaction and the camera angle all work together to create the illusion.

This is the kind of practical work we’ll be covering in our upcoming Screen Combat Fundamentals – 4 Week Intensive at Saxon Combat Academy.

No acting or martial arts experience is required.

Starts: Saturday 14 November
Time: 11:00am–1:00pm
Location: Saxon Combat Academy, Croydon
4 weeks / 8 hours total
Cost: $299

The Fundamentals program is also the starting point for our ongoing Screen Combat training at Saxon.
