The grip is one of the most important fundamentals in the golf swing. Get it wrong, and you’ll spend the rest of the swing making compensations.
Take a close look at how your right hand sits on the club. Use this as a guide to help you build a grip that matches your swing. Some golfers perform best with a stronger right hand, others with a weaker or more neutral position. The key is understanding what works for you and applying the right principles consistently.
Get the grip right, and you’re on your way to hitting more solid, consistent golf shots.

Okay, getting back into playing a few tournaments. I haven’t done a lot of practice lately, and as you can see, my backswing has started to get a little too short.
For me, this happens when I stay in too much forward bend during the backswing. The fix is to feel like my right shoulder blade moves back onto the red line behind me — what I call the zero line.
When the right shoulder blade gets back onto that line, it helps lengthen the backswing, keeps the body more centered, and allows the club to move more freely.

Controlling the golf ball.
Here’s Charles Howell III hitting his trademark push draw. Take a look at his setup:
✅ Shoulders slightly closed to the target✅ More of the left forearm visible at address✅ A grip and setup that encourage the club to approach from the inside
Charles has always been known for his ability to hit a controlled push draw, and it all starts before the club even moves. The setup influences the motion, and the motion influences the ball flight.

Trying to grow the game of golf.
You post the greats hitting incredible shots under pressure — moments that inspire people, educate golfers, and bring more eyes to the game.
Then the PGA Tour blocks the content.
Is that really growing the game?
Struggling with fat chip shots and taking huge divots around the greens?
The good news is you don’t need to.
In this video, I explain one of the key reasons golfers hit chip shots fat and, more importantly, how to fix it. Instead of focusing on the backswing, I focus on what happens through the ball and after impact—how the body should move and what the right arm should be doing.
Get those pieces right and you’ll make cleaner contact, control your distance better, and become far more consistent around the greens.

Thinking about a new driver?
Before you spend thousands on a new driver, test it properly.
Take it out on the golf course, hit the golf ball you normally play, and compare it directly to your current driver. The launch monitor numbers might look great indoors, but what matters is how it performs on the course when it counts.
If you’re struggling with your driver, don’t assume the club is the problem. In many cases, a simple setup or swing change can give you more distance, better accuracy, and save you a lot of money.

Everyone talks about turning in the backswing with the upper body, but that’s only part of the puzzle.
To create a powerful and efficient backswing while keeping your head relatively stable, you need three movements working together:
✅ Turn✅ Side Bend✅ Extension
These movements happen in sequence and allow you to rotate properly without excessive head movement. If you only focus on turning, you’ll often lose posture, sway, or struggle to create a complete backswing.
Understanding how these three movements work together can make a huge difference to your consistency, power, and ball striking.

Master your setup—it drives the entire golf swing.
You’ve got to get your setup right first. Once that’s in place, we can focus on the role of the left knee, left hip, and left shoulder in the backswing.
One of the biggest mistakes golfers make is swaying off the ball. Stop the sway, improve your pivot, and you’ll start striking it more consistently.
You can do this.
