RACE CANCELLATION - RAILTON SUPERVETS

The Railton Supervets race scheduled for this Thursday, 3rd September, has unfortunately been cancelled due to a low number of rider entries.

Tim and I have been contacted by up to 6 of our regular riders who have informed us that they cannot make the race this week due to various other commitments.

This leaves insufficient riders remaining for us to be able to conduct a viable race.

We intend to run our next race on Thursday, 1st October, at Railton as usual. We hope to have several riders return to make this race happen then.

We are sorry for this inconvenience and remind the riders entered for this week that their entry fee will be refunded in due course.

Please try and make it to the race in October if you can.

Regards, Pete and Tim.

🏁 WHITEMORE - HAGLEY STATION LANE 48.2km GMS RESULTS AND PHOTOS 📸

Another cracker of a race in the sunshine this weekend at Whitemore.

Really good entries, even with a number of regulars missing, particularly in B grade following a bumper turn out a fortnight ago.

A special mention to Race Director Leigh Pridmore who stepped into the role midweek and did an excellent job.

We can always use more race directors (basically the person in charge of the race on the day), so if anyone would like to be a RD twice a season, please reach out.

In A Grade, Peter Jeffers sprinted away again to secure his 2nd win in 15 days. Pete is in a good run for form and has shown he’s no slouch in the sprint, whether it’s over 300m or 150m. Iain Hodgins finished 2nd closely behind, losing out by half a wheel in a sprint with Shane Revell for 3rd overall in the combed A/B group.

In B Grade, Zac Tschirn looked comfortable throughout in the combined A/B group and sprinted powerfully past Shane Revell to cross the line in 1st place. After reviewing the finish line video, Zac was relegated for an infringement in the final metres and Shane Revell was awarded the win.

We acknowledge that sprinting on our narrow rural roads can be challenging!!

In C Grade, Stef Shearer ensured there would be repeat of his 3rd place finish in the previous race, making an early move to drop his breakaway companion Alex Robinson to cross the line solo, with the rest of the field completely out of sight on the long finish straight.

In D Grade, Mark Digney got the win today, crossing the line around 3 seconds ahead of Suze Hodgins who was strong again this week. Garry Cooper was third around 25 seconds down on the winner, followed by Rodney Johnson another 10 second behind.

In E Grade, Matt Bonham had great ride, attacking on Black Hills Road to force the chase from Peter Dadson behind and sprinting from 200m to go clear to the line. The rest of the field was strung out behind with Peter Dadson the best of the rest followed by Tim Burford in 3rd.

🤝🏼 Massive thanks to the race day team including Leigh Pridmore, Lance Beament, James McKee, and Peter Dadson

RAILTON SUPERVETS CYCLE RACE – new series - Race 1 – 3.9.2026

Online Entry now available on Entryboss – see link below.

NVCC are proud to support the 2026 series of Supervets races for our more mature vet riders, initiated by our own Supervet Tim Burford with the assistance of long-term vet rider Pete Dadson.

Tim’s idea was to provide a handicap race for males 60 and over, and for females 45 and over, to be run as an additional NVCC race on the calendar, midweek, once per month, on a circuit at Railton.

We will conduct 4 races in this 2026 series. The first 3 will be at Railton on the first Thursday of September, October, and November. The final race will be in mid-December at Hagley as part of the NVCC final race of the year. Prizemoney will be awarded to placegetters in each race; plus overall series placings will be determined for all 4 races with successful Supervet riders presented after the final race.

We invite all riders that meet the entry age and licence criteria to come and compete in race 1 of our 2026 series, weather permitting, on Thursday 3rd September at 10am, completing 3 laps of a 15km circuit starting in Railton opposite the toilet block on Kimberley Road. The race will finish at a safe location on Native Plains Road, close to the return to Railton.

Entry is online at Entryboss – See link below. Please enter early so we can confirm starting handicaps before race day. All riders must have a current AusCycling licence.

https://entryboss.cc/races/31807

If you are age qualified for this race, then come and support Tim and his helpers for a competitive ride in a fun and friendly environment – and please stay after for a coffee and debrief at the Limestone Café in Railton.

See link below for course map:

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50093236

Please come and support this race if you can as its continuation will depend on having sufficient entries. At our last race it was great to see some familiar faces who hadn’t raced for a while, along with our regular riders who have achieved Supervet status.

We look forward to seeing new and returning riders at Railton on September 3rd.

Regards, Tim and Pete.
