Beyond the Goal Posts Program - Hunter

The Beyond the Goal Posts Program has continued to build momentum, with the program now delivered across 8 schools throughout term 4 within the Hunter region.

The program focuses on developing students' knowledge, confidence, and practical skills in officiating, with participants working towards achieving their Foundation 1 Refereeing Accreditation. Students are provided with the necessary knowledge and skills to confidently try their hand at refereeing, with no previous refereeing experience or involvement in rugby league required.

An exciting outcome of the program will be the opportunity for participating students to put their newly developed skills into practice during the Newcastle Knights League Stars Stage 1 Gala Days in Term 4. These students will assist with the delivery of the events, providing them with valuable practical experience while also contributing to the successful delivery of one of our largest school-based rugby league programs.

The Term 4 League Stars program is expected to involve more than 250 teams from over 90 schools across seven events, providing a significant platform for students to further develop their officiating skills and confidence.

Thank you to the following Schools for their involvement in the program for 2026;
Callaghan College Waratah Campus
Catherine McAuley Catholic College, Medowie
Dungog High School
Hunter Sports High School
Rutherford Technology High School
St Bede's Catholic College, Chisholm
Tomaree High School

The Central Coast team have had a big 3 days of the Stage 1 League Stars Tag gala days across the region over the last week. ⭐️🏉

A total of 72 teams from 24 local schools took part in these events to bring the total to over 800 students participating in the League Stars days! 🌈

A big thank you to Erina Eagles for hosting our Southern day, Wyong Roos for hosting our Northern day & Terrigal Sharks for our Catholic & Independent gala day. 💫

The Stage 1 tag events are a great way for students to try out the game in an alternate format, with many participating in our sport for the very first time & for most schools, their first external sports excursion for these students. 🙌🏽

We are looking foward to our Stage 2 & 3 gala days next Term! ☀️🏈
