Not long to go!
We have been inundated with registrations and enquiries for our upcoming Hustle Hoops Holiday Clinics, and we are excited by the calibre of athletes who have expressed interest. With only a handful of positions remaining, now is the time to register your interest if you would like to be considered.
One thing that makes Hustle Hoops clinics different is that we don’t simply accept registrations on a first-in basis. We take the time to carefully assess each athlete and build groups of players with similar skill levels, work ethic, and competitive drive.
Our goal is to create an environment where every athlete is challenged, pushed outside their comfort zone, and surrounded by players who will elevate the standard of the session. We believe this provides a far greater development opportunity than placing athletes of vastly different abilities together on the same court.
For those who have already registered their interest, thank you for your patience. We are currently finalising groups and ensuring we create the most competitive training environments possible. We will be in contact with you shortly regarding your registration status.

One minute they’re learning how to tie their shoes… next minute they’re taller than the
coach and nearly dunking on everyone. If only their jump shots grew that fast 😜

I never want to accept that I’m getting older…and I’m not mind you 😉 💪💪🏀🏀
But tonight at training,I was proved otherwise 😅
I was working with one of the boys on his shooting arc and release. Trying to explain that you need to get the ball up high instead of shooting it flat.
Growing up, all my coaches used the same analogy:
“Imagine you’re standing inside a phone booth and you have to shoot the ball out through the top.”
Simple. Effective. Every kid understood it.
So I confidently used the exact same teaching point tonight…
Only to be met with a completely blank stare.
This poor kid looked at me like I’d just told him to send a fax or rewind a VHS tape 😭😂
He goes:
“…what’s a phone booth?”
At this point his dad had to Google a photo, which somehow made things worse because the image that came up was one of those old red English phone boxes.
Needless to say, the basketball lesson quickly turned into a history lesson.
So apparently I’m now officially old enough that my coaching analogies require Google searches.
I clearly need a modern version for today’s kids…

Thought for the week and something I’ve been pondering many years!
Ask a player what their weak hand is… and they’ll answer straight away. 👋🏀
Now ask them what their weak foot is… and most players, and their parents, will have no idea what you’re talking about.
Coaches constantly tell young athletes to work on their weak hand, yet you almost never (I never have) hear coaches talk about training the weak foot - unless you’re talking football!
In basketball, your feet create everything.
In my opinion, your weak foot is just as important, if not more important than your weak hand.

Players who competed with and against the GOAT, Michael Jordan, always said he had no weaknesses. Mastering his weak hand AND his weak foot, more importantly was what seperate him.
The details matter. That’s where great players separate themselves.
When did your coach last ask you what your weak foot is? Or give you drills to work on it.? Why is it important? All great questions.
What’s Jordan pivot foot on the low block here? What’s his weak foot? This is a small example.
