MEET TEAM MEMBER 56 – OLIVER

This year, the 2026 Equine Stable Designs Interschool South Australia team heads to Nationals with 55 riders, 68 horses… and one very special dog.

Meet Oliver – Team Member 56. 🐾

Oliver is an assistance dog and will be right alongside one of our youngest Team SA members, Millie Carne-Holland, as she competes at her very first Interschool Nationals.

And when we say Oliver is part of the team, we mean it.

He’ll be there throughout Nationals supporting Millie. He’ll join us at the opening and closing ceremonies, walk into the main arena with Team SA and proudly take his place front and centre alongside our riders.

For us, Oliver represents something particularly special this year.

For the first time, our team will proudly include All Abilities classes – an important step forward for Interschool South Australia and something our committee is incredibly proud to see become part of our program.

Every young rider deserves the opportunity to belong, to compete and to experience everything that being part of Interschool brings.

Millie and Oliver, we are so proud to have you as part of Team SA. We hope your very first Nationals is something you will always remember.

And of course, Team Member 56 needed his own Team SA colours.

Our heartfelt thanks to Joy from Aricon, who has made Oliver this beautiful rug especially for Nationals. A very special finishing touch for a very important member of our team, and one we know he will wear with pride.

55 riders. 68 horses. One Oliver. One Team SA.

We can't wait to see all 56 of our team members together in that main arena.

We are Team SA!

A Reminder on Ear Hair and Sensory Hair Rules - All competing horses/ponies will be checked by the Vet Teams on Arrival so please ensure you understand the requirements in full.
Under Article 141 of EA's General Regulations — which sits within the Protection of Horses provisions of the regulations — horses' sensory hairs may not be clipped, shaved, or otherwise modified in any way. Similarly, hair inside the auricles (ears) may not be removed or shortened within the rims of the auricle. These rules have been in place for at least 18 months and apply across all EA competitions. You can read Article 141 in full by following the link below https://www.equestrian.org.au/.../EA%20General...

What a day for Interschool South Australia at the Adelaide Royal Show!

Yesterday was a wonderful celebration of our young riders, our schools and, most importantly, the spirit of Interschool.

A very special thank you to our Show Organiser, Naomi Downer, who worked tirelessly to bring this day together. Naomi, your commitment, organisation and sheer hard work made yesterday possible, and we are incredibly grateful.

To our committee members and the wonderful string of volunteers who gave their time to help, thank you. Not everyone who contributed is captured in this photo, but please know that every person played a part. Days like this simply don’t happen without people willing to step forward and help.

And there was plenty happening beyond the arena too.

A special well done to Caroline Rhodes, who brought school principals and other important dignitaries together in one room, creating an opportunity to talk about Interschool, what it offers our young riders and where we can take it in the future. The future of Interschool South Australia is in good hands.

To the Royal Adelaide Show team, thank you for supporting this initiative and our young riders. The opportunity to compete and represent their schools on such a special stage means so much to them, and we genuinely appreciate your support in making it happen.

And to Ty and Tara Manning - Manning Photography, thank you for being there to capture so many of the moments that made the day special. We are very lucky to have you telling the story of our Interschool community through your lens.

Finally, to our Team SA riders, you made us incredibly proud. You looked sharp, carried yourselves beautifully and, most importantly, supported and celebrated each other.

Yesterday you showed us exactly what Interschool is all about.

We are Team SA!

Next stop… Werribee!

COME AND DISCOVER INTERSCHOOL AT THE Royal Adelaide Show

This Saturday, 12 September, Interschool South Australia is taking over the Main Arena for a special Interschool Exhibition Day — and we’d love the wider equestrian and school communities to come along and see what Interschool is all about.

Interschool brings together young equestrians from schools across South Australia, giving riders the opportunity to represent their school while competing in the sport they love.

Throughout the day, our riders will showcase a range of Interschool disciplines, giving spectators a great insight into the pathway, the competition and, most importantly, the wonderful community behind it.

If you’re a school, teacher, parent or young rider wanting to learn more about Interschool — come and find us! Meet our committee, talk to our families and riders, and discover how your school and students can become involved.

And to our wider South Australian equestrian community, we’d love to see you there supporting the next generation of our sport.

Good luck and good riding.

To all of our young Interschool riders competing at the Royal Adelaide Show starting today, enjoy every moment. It is a special opportunity to ride on one of South Australia’s biggest stages and something you have worked hard to earn.

Be proud of yourselves, back your preparation, look after your horses and ponies, and ride with confidence. Whatever the result, make the most of the experience and support others along the way.

And to all South Australian riders competing across the show, we wish you every success. It is wonderful to see our equestrian community so strongly represented.

Ride well, enjoy the occasion and be proud to be there.

Good luck to you all!
