Here is an update from Alexis who is preparing for the U/23 marathon team which will compete in Argentina in October, 2027

Last week I was lucky enough to attend a Team AUS training camp in the Gold Coast run by Brett Greenwood. With my fellow Geelong canoe club members Ivor and Pete.

I had the most amazing week training, enjoying the sun and getting to know everyone better.

My highlights were:
Paddling a K4 for the first time.
Brett’s training “special” which included tying a bungee cord to the back of your boat.
Getting to train hard with an amazing group of people and paddlers.
The warm weather!!! ☀️☀️☀️

PA MARATHON TEAM
Tallebudgera Training Camp
(A wrap from the organisers)

Another successful training camp wrapped up at Tallebudgera, Queensland, bringing together around 30 athletes from across Australia. Organized by Marathon Paddling Academy, the camp focused on preparing athletes for the 2026 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in Argentina.

The weekend featured a packed program designed to develop both race skills and fitness. Athletes worked on wash riding in large packs, portage technique, technical drills, sprint sessions, and team boat paddling, testing their skills in competitive race situations.

The camp also included racing at the Elanora Escape and Currumbin Creek Paddlers Club races, giving paddlers a great opportunity to put their training into practice and experience the intensity of racing alongside others.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the camp, especially those who traveled from interstate to be part of the weekend.

We hope the Tallebudgera camp provided another valuable boost in preparation for Argentina and helped all our athletes take another step toward performing at their best at the 2026 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships.

See you on the water!
