FIFA ARENA PITCH SITE VISIT
The Botswana Football Association (BFA) Project team conducted a site visit to the area earmarked for the construction of the FIFA Arena Pitch in Molepolole, located behind Mafenyatlala Mall.
The proposed facility will be a 20m x 40m community football pitch, with the second one proposed to go to Maun.
The FIFA Arena Pitch initiative forms part of FIFAโs wider programme to support the development of community football spaces around the world for kids.
Through this initiative, BFA is working to create accessible, safe and inclusive football facilities that can support grassroots participation and community development.
For the Molepolole project, BFA has partnered with the Bakwena Community Development Trust to establish a community safe space that is expected to benefit more than 2,000 children and young people living within the surrounding area.
The facility is intended to provide a structured and accessible environment where young people can participate in football and other positive community activities.
As part of the project preparations, CHEC โ Sharps Construction has committed to supporting the development by clearing and preparing the site and constructing the required subbase for the arena pitch.
This contribution is an important step towards ensuring that the site is ready for the installation phase.
The site visit allowed the BFA Project Team to assess the location, appreciate the proposed development area and confirm the next implementation steps with the relevant stakeholders.
The official groundbreaking ceremony will take place soon, bringing together the BFA leadership, Bakwena authorities and leadership, to formally mark the commencement of the FIFA Arena Pitch project.
Funds permitting the BFA shall build more FIFA Arenas in the country through collaborations with various organizations and donors.
