MAKING 👏ATHLETES 👏 FEEL 👏 SAFE👏IS OUR👏 RESPONSIBILITY.👏
This post is candid and personal. Since becoming the owner of Tri Fit almost two years ago, my mission has been to make every athlete who walks through the doors, feel like they are safe.
Between the recent story in the news about a facility very similar to ours in Calgary and the stories I have heard as both a coach and athlete, my heart has hurt. So much trust has been abused and the potential long term damage that children have experienced at the hands of adults is disgusting.
As adults, coaches, mentors, trainers or any other position of power, we have the responsibility so much bigger than 'what team did they make' or 'how much can they bench press.' The influence that we provide daily is something they will remember well beyond the actual workout.
Did they leave feeling respected?
Did they feel like an individual?
Did they feel valued and like they belong?
If any athlete has ever left their gym, field, rink or anywhere else not answering 'yes' to these questions....we have lost the meaning and responsibility that we have.
To this day, of all the certifications that I have, I am still the most proud of completing the NCCP Safe Sport Training Program. This certification is not mandatory in our industry but I highly encourage it and why I have made my staff complete it who work with athletes as well.
Athletes deserve nothing less than our best and the trust that is provided in us will NEVER be taken for granted at Tri Fit.

Feel like your athlete is not getting the most out of training? There's a reason for it.
So how should youth athletes train?
There isn't a one size fits all answer it depends on their age and development.
Youth athletes fall into different stages of youth development.
The stage of development they fall into should determine what kind of training will be best for them, their age, and their sport.
You don’t want a 10 year old throwing heavy dumbbells above their head.
And you don’t want a 17 year old doing endless rounds of randomized circuits.
When you know what stage of youth development your athlete falls into, it becomes much easier to develop their performance.
So what do we emphasize in our small group training?
💪🏼 Explosive power
💪🏼 Injury prevention and tracking
💪🏼 Individual training program (not randomized cookie cutter workouts)
💪🏼 Strength
And so much more.
So, if you want to give your athlete access to what they've been missing, and keep them playing their sport longer,
💌DM us or comment to learn more.
We can't wait to be the missing piece.
