A little sneak PAUSE…

In two weeks, we’re launching a brand-new four-week July series designed for women navigating perimenopause and menopause.

As hormones shift, the way we recover, build muscle and respond to exercise can change. Maintaining strength becomes one of the most important investments we can make in our future health.

PAUSE isn’t a lifting class.

It’s the class that supports the lift.

We’ll build the mobility, stability, balance and core strength that support squats, deadlifts, presses and carries; whether you already strength train or you’re building the confidence to begin.

Think of it as the work behind the work.

Because strong muscles support strong bones.

And strong women support each other.

Come meet every side of Alicia this week. Strong, spicy, classical, stretchy and just the right amount of chaotic.

Method 45: Thursday at 6:30am
A must-try class. Bring heavy weights or ankle weights to make it extra spicy. Forty-five minutes of intensity, shaky muscles and a big slap of dopamine before most people are even awake.

Mat Pilates: Friday at 6:30am
Classically inspired Pilates taught by an unhinged early-morning instructor. Expect control, precision, deep core work and at least one moment where you question why something so small burns so much.

Mobility: Sunday at 11:00am
I’m covering for the mobility guru, Sam. Come for a deep stretch focused on hips, core and spinal mobility. The perfect Sunday reset.

Come try something new, get a little spicy and leave feeling wildly better than when you arrived.

People need community more than they need motivation.

Most of us aren’t looking for another person to yell at us to work harder. We’re looking for connection. A place to belong. Something we may have lost somewhere along the way.

Making friends as an adult can be hard. Sometimes community starts by showing up somewhere new, slightly nervous, and hoping the right people are there.

Tomorrow morning, I’m heading to Kate's for her 6:00 a.m. Spin Class. It’s a different community, but still a very special one. A different version of Morning Club, but still very much Morning Club.

Then we’re back to our regular schedule, with one extra class this week:

Tonight at 5:00pm: Mat Pilates
Thursday at 6:30am: Method 45
Friday at 6:30am: Mat Pilates
Sunday at 11:00am: Mobility

The little things matter.

A pretty yoga mat covered in ocean waves because swimming, staring at the ocean, and jumping into a lake will always feel like home to me.

Getting to class 30 minutes early to set the room, test the music, organize the props, and make sure everything feels right before anyone walks through the door.

The first deep breath. The perfect song coming on at exactly the right moment. Someone laughing through a hard exercise. Someone realizing their body can do more than they thought.

A breath can change how you move.

A pelvic tilt can help build a strong, connected core.

A welcoming room can help someone feel safe enough to try.

Big changes do not always arrive loudly. Sometimes they look like ocean waves on a yoga mat, a carefully prepared space, and one small movement done with intention.

Hi, friends! I’m Alicia Ott, your Morning Club Pilates teacher at Union 108, where we believe in strong cores, stronger coffee and talking about the things everyone experiences but nobody wants to say out loud.

This Saturday at 12 noon, I’m teaching Pelvic Floor Pilates as part of Union 108’s Open House weekend.

We’re talking better bladder control, fewer surprise leaks, stronger core connection and yes, potentially deeper, more satisfying or***ms.

Sneezing without fear? That is freedom.

Laughing without crossing your legs? That is victory.

Understanding what your pelvic floor actually does? That is some seriously excellent personal growth.

Nothing will be left unsaid. No awkward questions. No shame. Just education, movement, laughter and a whole lot of “why did nobody teach us this sooner?”

My heart is overflowing. What a very cool experience.

Thank you, City of Om, for welcoming me into your family and giving me the opportunity to share a little Morning Club energy under that beautiful white tent.

And thank you to the wonderful group who tolerated my exhausting enthusiasm, terrible puns, reverse planks and constant reminders to breathe. You showed up ready to move, laugh, try something new and embrace every challenge I threw your way. Teaching a group that open, joyful and supportive made this experience even more special.

If you had told past Alicia that she would become a Pilates instructor—and one day teach at City of Om—she never would have believed you. Yet there I was, sharing my energy, passion and a skill I once never imagined having.

Take the chances, friends. Do the thing that makes you nervous. Step outside the version of yourself you have always known.

I promise you, it is worth it.
