Family-friendly, fun, and competitive curling for all skill levels. Event rentals for parties, meetings & more!

The Barrie Curling Club is a not-for profit 7-sheet facility at 175 Essa Road in Barrie, Ontario. The club schedules 40 hours of curling per week between 15 leagues from Monday to Friday and Sunday. In addition the club organizes 10 bonspiels, primarily on Saturdays but also over weekends. The ice is consistently rented to local business and residents who organize daytime curling outings to full weekend bonspiels. In addition the club has a lounge, restaurant, boardroom and large main level area available for rental by residents and businesses. In the summer the ice surface is a concrete floor that can have several purposes. For example, in 2013, the Barrie Curling Club hosted the South Simcoe Rebel Rollers (roller derby league) to over 300 spectators on three occasions.

You might start curling because you want to learn the game. Then you find the friendships, confidence, and community that make you want to stay.

Give the young curler in your life the chance to find all of it. Youth Learn to Curl, Little Rocks, and Juniors are open now.

Thank you to Madeleine Dupont and Team Dupont for being part of More Than Curling.

See you this season. 💙❤️

Curling clubs don’t exist in a bubble. 🥌

Getting out into the community, meeting local businesses, and building relationships is part of how we keep Barrie Curling Club growing off the ice too.

Thanks to the Barrie Chamber of Commerce and Shak’s World for having us at Business After 5.

More than wins.
More than losses.
More than a game.

We asked some of curling’s biggest names what the sport can give kids beyond the scoreboard.

Episode 1 starts with Rachel Homan.

Have fun. Bring a friend. See where the game takes you.

This is More Than Curling.

Youth curling registration is open at Barrie Curling Club. Link in bio.

See you this season.💙❤️

This one stayed with us.

Sarah Wilkes shared a little perspective at the Curling Ontario AGM, and it was too good to leave in our camera roll.

What part stood out to you?

The questions we hear all the time from people thinking about Learn to Curl.

🥌 Am I going to be the only person who has no idea what they’re doing?

Not even close. Learn to Curl is designed for beginners, so you’ll be learning alongside other people who are figuring it out too. You don’t need to know the rules, the terminology, or how to throw a stone before you arrive.

🥌 What if I can’t do that curling slide?

You don’t have to slide like the professionals to enjoy curling. There are different ways to deliver a stone, including using a delivery stick. Our instructors will help you find a way that works for you.

🥌 Do I need to find three other people to sign up with me?

Nope. You can register on your own. You’ll meet other people through the program, and you don’t need to arrive with a team or know anyone at the club.

🥌 What if I miss a class?

Life happens. Missing a class doesn’t mean you can’t continue, but Learn to Curl is a progressive six-week program, and each week builds on the last. Consistent attendance helps you get the most out of the experience, so we encourage you to come ready to commit to the full program.

🥌 What if I haven’t tried a new sport in years?

Then you’re in good company. Plenty of adults come to curling after years of not trying anything new. You’re allowed to be a beginner, ask questions, and laugh at the shots that don’t go quite as planned. That’s part of learning.

🥌 What happens after Learn to Curl?

You don’t have to stop after six weeks. Barrie Curling Club has beginner-friendly opportunities to keep playing, including our Development League. You can continue building your skills, meet more people, and make curling part of your winter.

Still have a question we didn’t answer? Drop it in the comments or send us a DM. We’re happy to help.

Safe to say this one made the Curling Ontario AGM highlight reel.

And because we had the chance, our club manager asked Rachel one question about youth curling.

You’ll hear the beginning of that conversation tomorrow. 👀
