MONDAY CLASSES ARE BACK THIS SEPTEMBER! ๐ถ
Iโm excited to share that Seated and Standing Classes are back at St. Matthew on-the-Plains on Mondays beginning September 14th!

Classes will now incorporate elements of both Zumba Gold Chair and Chair One Fitnessยฎ.
What Can You Expect?
Each class will include a mix of Latin music along with great, well-known music from the past and present. Think disco, pop, rock 'n' roll and even soul! They're a great option for anyone who loves music, wants to dance and get some exercise in, but would prefer to remain seated for balance, mobility or any other reason.
As always, you control how much you put into it. Make your movements bigger or keep them smaller. Use your arms, your legs or both. And Iโll offer modifications along the way.
There will be a small increase in the seated drop-in rate this fall to reflect room rental, certifications, insurance and other costs associated with running the classes. The drop-in rate will increase from $9 to $10 per class.
Also new for September, Iโm adding a 10-class pass, and just like with our standing classes, your first seated class is now FREE! ๐
Seated Class Pricing:
First class FREE! | Drop-in $10 | 5-class pass $45 | 10-class pass $85
Mondays | 1:00โ1:45 PM
I'll be back up on the stage, which I know many people really like because it makes it easier to see me (and learn the moves!).
Just a reminder, like my other locations, these are low-impact dance fitness classes designed for beginners, adults 50+, or simply anyone who doesn't want the jumping and quick pivots that can sometimes come with regular Zumba Fitness.
Standing Class Pricing:
First class FREE! | Drop-in $12 | 5-class pass $50 | 10-class pass $95
Mondays | 11:00โ11:50 AM
St. Matthew on-the-Plains is such a great location. It has a huge room, tons of parking, is right on Plains Road (five minutes from Mapleview), and has a fully accessible entrance with no stairs or ramps.
Come give it a go! And a big thank you to everyone who continues to support these independent community classes. โค๏ธ
(P.s - The September calendar with dates/times for all locations will be coming by the end of the week!)
Thanks again and see you in class! ๐

We've also got a remake of the old-school calypso/soca classic Hot Hot Hot ๐ฅ
Finally, we'll be stretching to a song by Jamaican-born Shaggy! ๐

What a great two weeks of dancing to some of the classics from the past 2 years! ๐ถ
A few people were asking about the higher energy merengue we were doing just before we start to cool down. It's called "Suavemente" by Elvis Crespo, one of the Kings of Merengue! ๐ฅ(one of my favs!) I will record the choreo for it this weekend and post it in the comments. Here is the offical music video!
Happy dancing! And Happy weekend!!๐

๐ I'm excited to share that I'm now officially a Certified Chair One Fitness Instructor! ๐ช๐
I decided to pursue this certification to add another layer to my chair dance fitness teaching toolbox. Chair One Fitness is a music-based chair dance fitness program that provides specialized training in adapting classes for people with a wide range of physical, neurological and mobility challenges, while emphasizing safety and inclusivity.
The certification also covers teaching in a variety of settings from long-term care and retirement communities to active older adult groups, as well as higher-energy chair dance fitness classes for people who love to dance but prefer, or need, to remain seated.
This does not replace my Zumba Gold Chair Classes - it builds on it. It's given me new choreography, fresh ideas, and additional teaching techniques that I'm excited to incorporate into my classes.
I'm looking forward to bringing these new ideas to the residents I teach in long-term care and retirement communities, as well as my independent chair dance fitness classes at St Matthew returning in September! As always, my goal is to create classes that are fun, welcoming, and accessible while helping people experience the joy of movement through awesome music. ๐
If you're looking to bring chair dance fitness to your organization or private group, please get in touch! Programs can be tailored to your participants, whether that's simple hand and upper-body movements, to full-body chair dance fitness, and anything in between. ๐
