Banook Canoe Club

August 8, 2026 | Masters Regatta No. 2 | Lake Banook, Dartmouth Nova Scotia

Better late than never, our in-house photographer made it just in time to catch a few shots of the last few races from today's Masters Regatta. A warm one, with temperatures nearing 30°C, lots of water and laughs kept the Banook athletes, led by Coach Iryna, cool as possible under the shade of new deck.

PaddleAll athletes, back on the water representing Banook, were the stars of the day with some excellent finishes - Thank you coach Brandon for all of your leadership today!

To round out Banook's races we may have witnessed the closest/tightest finish in the history of the Masters C4 Mixed 200m event (unconfirmed).

Banook Canoe Club is proud to partner with Easter Seals Nova Scotia to offer the TakePart Dragon Boat Program, creating more opportunities for people of all abilities to enjoy paddling on Lake Banook.

Thanks to funding from Sport Nova Scotia, the club has installed an accessible transfer lift to help participants safely and comfortably board a dragon boat, removing barriers and making the sport more accessible.

Our second TakePart session takes place this Sunday at 2:30 pm, we’re excited to welcome participants back to the water.

This is another step toward making Banook Canoe Club a welcoming, inclusive place where everyone can participate, connect, and enjoy paddling on Lake Banook.

An excellent day for a morning regatta full of crew boats. A sincere thank you to all the coaches and ADCKC staff on hand to run this one. To the volunteers that come out and sit in a rescue boat ensuring the safety the crews - you are so appreciated for offering your time to the sport and springing to action when needed!

A shout out for the Banook U12's who help fill out the crews where we needed some numbers - you are all superstars!

And finally, to the families, guardians, and anyone who helps get the athletes to the lake, cheer from lakeside, and keep them watered & fed - your support makes these days so positively memorable.
