Movement Monday: Single Leg Squats

We use progressions that help us build strength and develop skill. Finding the right scaling option for you I s what we’re here for!

• Narrow stance heel-elevated squats — Practice hitting the depth and position needed for a single-leg squat.
• Step-back lunges — The beginning of single-leg work. Use the back foot to assist with standing up, or remove that assistance as you get stronger.
• Single-leg squats to a target — Find your balance on one foot and start getting comfortable lifting the non-working leg.
• Elevated single-leg squats — Move through the full range of motion without having to hold up the non-working leg.
• Single-leg squats with counterbalance — Work on balance and positioning while using the counterweight to help you stay upright.
• Alternating single-leg squats — Put it all together and work towards a full, controlled single-leg squat.

There’s a progression for everyone. Find the one that challenges you and helps you move forward.➡️➡️

Movement Monday: Pull-Ups

We don’t jump straight into kipping and butterfly pull-ups. We build the foundation first.

From scapular pull-ups to kipping & butterfly pull-ups, each progression adds strength, control, and eventually speed and volume.

We value both strict and dynamic pulling movements at YCT, but strict strength comes first.

Not quite at a pull-up yet? No problem. There’s a progression for you, and our coaches will help you find it.

Swipe through to see a few of the ways we scale pull-ups. 👆
