It is never too early to instill water confidence in children.

That is why at the Guelph YMCA, we have our Splashers and Bubblers, an introductory program that builds water confidence in young swimmers as they learn to enjoy the water alongside parents or caregivers.

This program is designed in two levels led by certified swim instructors:

#1 Splashers – Introducing babies (3 to 18 months) to the water to learn about their environment. Where children and parents can become comfortable in the water together.

#2 Bubblers – Introduce children to new movements, from holding to the wall to blowing bubbles, a stimulating environment for children and caregivers, encouraging bonding and skill development.

AccessAbility Week has come to a close, and the impact speaks for itself. What began as a 500 km goal became a collective achievement of 4,051 km, over 710% beyond our target.

With 96 participants, this challenge showed the power of community in action.

Building barrier-free communities is ongoing work, but every step forward counts. Together, we’ve made meaningful progress toward greater inclusion and accessibility. The donations raised through this challenge will help support specialized programs and adaptive equipment that provide essential wellness support for individuals in our programming.

June is Seniors Month. This year, the Government of Ontario encourages us all to “Let’s Get Moving”, and we’re proud to support that mission.

2026 also marks the 60th anniversary of Ontario’s Seniors Active Living Centres (SALC), helping older adults stay active, connected, and engaged in their communities.

At the YMCA of Three Rivers, we’re proud that our A.R. Kaufman Family YMCA is a designated SALC. Through programs like Chat & Play Café, Arts & Crafts, Rock Steady Boxing, and our Neuro Fit program, we create a welcoming space where seniors can stay active, social, and supported.

Across all of our facilities, we are passionate about helping seniors thrive, both inside and out.

That's a wrap on the 2026 Women of Distinction Awards, and what a spectacular night it was!

The room was brimming with inspiring and empowering honourees, alumnae and the community who all came together to celebrate the contribution of women who've worked to improve the quality of life in Guelph, and beyond.

We would like to extend our congratulations to this year's honourees:
Amanda Kavchak
Dr. Giannina Descalzi
Lynn Vanschaik
Stephanie Minett
Terrie Jarvis
Young Trailblazer: Jasmine Arora
Lifetime Achievement: Susan Carey

Thank you to our generous sponsors for helping make this night possible, and to our community that continues to show up for women, girls and gender-diverse youth.

We look forward to keeping the celebration going in 2027 as we host our alumnae event that brings together past honourees and recognizes their impact, talents and connections.

This challenge is currently underway, and participants have already surpassed this target, currently sitting at 550 km, with six days to go!

Our Health Management programs support individuals living with and recovering from illness or disability. With this 500 km commitment, these members are working incredibly hard to demonstrate just how important our Health Management programs are to them and to the community.
