Congrats to our own Cameron Lefresne- who has been named this year’s Lawn Bowls Nova Scotia Senior Male Athlete of the Year! Cam had a phenomenal 2025-26 season representing Canada- including leading Team Canada to the Men’s Overall title at the 2026 Atlantic International Challenge in Windsor, Ontario (where he was also named Men’s Player of the Tournament) and skipped Team Canada’s Men’s Fours team to the gold at the 2026 America’s World Bowls Qualifier to book our country’s spot at the 2027 World Bowls in England. Congrats Cam on all of your achievements and setting the standard for striving for international honours in our sport.

Congrats to our own John Siteman- who, alongside his teammate Raymond MacDonald of Dartmouth, has been named this year’s Lawn Bowls Nova Scotia Team of the Year! John and Ray captured the Silver Medal in the 2026 Canadian Men’s Pairs Championship in Edmonton and had quite the run defeating many of the top teams in the country on their road to the final. Congrats to you both on this special honour!

Congrats to our friends from HRM Pride Bowls- who have been named as this year’s Lawn Bowls Nova Scotia Community Sport Organization of the Year! They had an awesome 2025 season- growing to 50+ members, hosting new tournaments in addition to their jitney schedule and having many of their members jumping into tournament play at events across the province and beyond. Congrats and thanks for everything you all do to grow the game!

Congrats to our own Tim Brennan- who has been named as the Lawn Bowls Nova Scotia Volunteer of the Year! As our longtime Vice President before retiring at the end of 2025- Tim (pictured in red and barbecuing at one of our club events in the photo) worked hard to showcase the club to our community and create a professional standard that will help our club continue to thrive for many years to come. Congrats Tim and thank you for everything you’ve done for the club and for the sport as a whole!

After the newsletter went out yesterday, Vicki Jo Bowden reached out and asked us to share a follow‑up message.
Sadly, due to the unexpected passing of her son several weeks ago, Vicki Jo has made the very difficult decision to step back from her position on the 2026 WLBC Board. On behalf of the entire Wanderers Lawn Bowling Club, we extend our sincere condolences to Vicki Jo and her family during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with her, and we appreciate the grace and strength she has shown in keeping our club informed.
We are happy to share that Vicki Jo is doing better and remains committed to continuing to bowl with us this season.
As a result, the WLBC Board now has a vacancy in the Social and Clubhouse Chair position.
If you are interested in volunteering for this role, you can review the position description on our website:
https://www.wandererslbc.ca/policies--documents.html
The WLBC Board will meet on Monday, April 27 to consider candidates to fill this vacancy for the remainder of the season, as per our current By‑Laws. If you are interested in volunteering, please email us at [email protected]
