🇨🇦 That’s a wrap on our weekend in Ottawa! ⛸️
Our three HSC skaters are heading home with two gold medals, some great performances and lots of learning along the way!

🥇 Alyssa – GOLD in Senior Solo Dance
🥇 Chris – GOLD in STAR 7 Men

A great weekend of competing, learning and gaining experience for our skaters.

Every competition brings something to celebrate, along with new lessons and things to take home and keep working on.
We’re proud of how our skaters represented HSC in Ottawa. Now it’s time to head home, get back to the rink and build from here! ❤️⛸️

~ And thank you to our amazing Ottawa skating friends that helped us out along the way.

⛸️💙 Happy National Coaches Week! 💙⛸️

This week we celebrate our incredible coaches who make such a difference in the lives of our skaters!

From the first shaky glide to landing that long-awaited jump, our coaches are there for every milestone, teaching, encouraging, challenging, cheering, and sometimes reminding us that yes… we really do need to try it one more time! 😉

But coaching is about so much more than skating. You help our athletes build confidence, resilience, discipline, courage, and a belief in themselves. You create an environment where skaters can challenge themselves, celebrate their successes, learn from the falls, and discover just how much they are capable of.

To all of our amazing HSC coaches — thank you for your passion, patience, dedication, and the countless hours you give to our skaters and our club.

You don't just teach skating.

You inspire. You encourage. You believe. You make a difference. ❤️

Today, and every day, we are grateful for YOU!

👏 Happy National Coaches Week from all of us at the Halifax Figure Skating Club! ⛸️💙

It’s National Coaches Week! ⛸️💙
Last week, we welcomed our first CanSkate and PreCanSkate sessions of the 2026–2027 season, which got us thinking about where it all begins.

Before they were coaches, many of our HSC coaches were the little skaters learning how to stand up, march, glide and find their balance for the very first time.
Some of the coaches you see on the ice today started out in Learn to Skate programs just like the skaters they now teach.
So for National Coaches Week, we’re taking a little trip back in time.

Can you guess which HSC coaches are in these photos from their early skating days? 👀⛸️
Take a close look and leave your guesses in the comments.

A fun reminder that every skater starts somewhere, and sometimes those first little steps on the ice can lead to something much bigger. 💙
