Lacombe Skating Club

It's time to start SHOUTING OUT our amazing ice sponsor businesses!

What is an ice sponsor?

The Lacombe Skating Club has to pay the City of Lacombe for ice rental for our PreCan, CanSkate, and Star Skate programs. Ice rental can be costly, and our registration fees simply do not cover it all, plus the cost of coaching and other items our club needs to pay for.

So local businesses in and around Lacombe generously offer to become Ice Sponsors, and donate some of their hard-earned money to help support the cost of ice. We could NOT do it without them!

In return, we want the world to know all about these fantastic businesses: how community-oriented they are, how much they help our local youth, and we want YOU to go out there and support them and congratulate them!

Our first ice sponsor of the year is Joey Ingram of MNP. Joey was the first person to donate when we sent out our letters of request and he didn't hesitate when approached. THANK YOU, Joey Ingram (MNP) for your generous donation and all the help you have given our club over the years!

If you have the opportunity, go support Joey Ingram at MNP, one of our amazing Lacombe Skating Club Ice Sponsors!

(We are still looking for 2026-2027 Ice Sponsors as well, so if your business would like to participate, please contact us at [email protected])

Just a friendly reminder that our Ma & Pa's Cookie Fundraiser is in full swing now!

All families should have received a cookie order form sometime last week. If you did not, please find Claudine or Marti in the skating lobby, or download and print the form posted here. All fundraising efforts are greatly appreciated as these funds help to pay for club operations. Plus, the cookies are delicious, convenient, and coming right in time for Christmas baking!

Please note the cookie order form due dates (written on the bottom of your cookie order form, and also posted here on our page). You will be returning the forms and any cash / cheques to Marti in the skating lobby on those days.

Last year, the Lacombe Skating Club set a record with Ma & Pa's for the biggest cookie sales ever. I think earlier this year our record was broken, so let's see if we can take it back!

Happy selling, everyone!

Today is the day our Cookie Dough Fundraiser officially begins!

This was a huge hit last year, with rave reviews on the delicious cookie dough, and we've been requested to host this fundraiser again. The cookie dough is from Ma & Pa's in Penhold, so we are proud to be supporting a local business as well. AND you'll have some easy baking ready to go for the holiday season!

The cookies come pre-shaped and frozen, in many different flavours. All orders, regardless of your skating day, will be delivered on Wednesday, December 2nd and have to be collected by families that day, as we do not have the facilities to properly store everyone's frozen cookie dough orders.

Today forms will be distributed to our Wednesday PreCan and CanSkate groups, as well as any Star Skate skaters who are in attendance. If you miss the meetings in the change rooms before skating, please find Claudine in the lobby to grab a form. (Usually Marti would be your fundraiser go-to, but she is unable to attend tonight.)

Forms will also go out on Saturday and Monday to our PreCan and CanSkate groups, as well as any Star skaters that missed picking up a form today. We will also post forms online at a later date in case families misplace theirs.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate the recipient of this year’s Marilyn Chidlow Volunteer Award: Claudine Bruning! Claudine is our intrepid registrar, but also holds multiple other roles on the Lacombe Skating Club’s executive board. We couldn’t run this club without her! Congratulations on this well-deserved award, Claudine!
