United We Curl – Out on the Ice Bonspiel 🥌🏳️‍🌈

The Oakville Curling Club hosted its fourth annual United We Curl Bonspiel from September 25–26. Sponsored by Goldline and Visit Oakville, the vibrant Pride event championed 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion and community building within the sport.

Designed for all skill levels, from recreational players to competitive cash-spiel squads, the weekend balanced spirited competition with entertainment. Two draws, including a multi-day competitive cash format and a flexible single-day option, welcomed 2SLGBTQIA+ players and allies alike.

Beyond the sheets, the bonspiel was once again known for its lively social atmosphere. Proceeds from the event supported the United We Curl campaign’s mission to foster safe, diverse and welcoming spaces in curling.

Milton Curling Club was proudly represented by The Straight Shooters:

🥌 Skip: Anthony Lutz
🥌 Vice: Jeff Roberge
🥌 Second: Elise Leroux
🥌 Lead: Sherrie Charter

This is a great example of Milton club members coming together to support our curling community🤩

🥌🎉 OVER 30 PEOPLE CAME OUT TO GIVE CURLING A TRY!

What a fantastic weekend at Milton Curling Club’s FREE Open House! ❤️

First time curlers stepped onto the ice, threw their first rocks, learned a little sweeping and got a true flavour of what makes curling such a fun and social sport! 🧹🥌

There were plenty of smiles, laughs and some impressive first shots! 🎯 And we’re excited to share that four new members have already signed up, with several others looking to take the next step in their curling journey. 🙌

👧🧒 Calling our future curlers!
We’re also actively looking for junior participants ages 6–12 to join our Little Rocks program. It’s a fun way for kids to learn the game, get active and become part of the curling community. 🥌❤️

A huge THANK YOU to our volunteers for sharing their love of the game and making everyone feel welcome. 👏

And to everyone who joined us this weekend — WELCOME TO CURLING! We hope to see you back on the ice soon.

Now there’s just one thing left to say…

HURRY HARD! 🥌🧹🔥
