And that's a wrap for our last day at Sh**un Dojo PG's first location! πŸ”š

We started with this location 2.5 years ago, setting up and tearing down every day of operation. In this time, we have grown to become a small community, we have trained, blead, sweat and laughed together, and now we move forward to our new home where we will continue to do that same.

Our next session will be in our new Dojo located at 1523 3rd avenue, which still has alot of work needed before its first sessions this Monday! βœ…

Thank you everyone for having help build our Dojo what it today and I look forward to continuing this journey with you all! πŸ™

Sh**un Dojo PG has taken a massive step forward this week. ⛩️

While we have a long way to go to fulfill our goals, and our new space is a fixer upper, we are beyond excited to take this step forward and bring a proper home to the community that has formed over our last 2 and a half years since opening doors! πŸ«‚

A big thank you for all the support both within and from outside our immediate tight nit community. We would not be here today without your help. πŸ™

MOKUSŌ 黙想

At Sh**un Dojo, every class begins and ends with Mokusō. It is a moment where we sit in seiza, close our eyes, and take a breath. 🀫

Before class, it helps us leave distractions at the door and focus on why we came to train. At the end, it gives us a chance to reflect on what we learned, where we improved, and what we can carry forward into the next session. πŸ”‡

Martial arts are not only about learning how to fight. They are about becoming more focused, disciplined, confident, and aware. At Sh**un Dojo, we train the mind alongside the body and that training begins from the moment you step onto the floor. πŸ’―πŸŽ―

RANDORI δΉ±ε–γ‚Š

Translates to free practice, at Sh**un Dojo we use this as an opertunity to hone Timing, Distance, teach how to read your opponents, and help enter flow state intentionally. ⏳

It differs from sparring in a few ways; no contact, slow motion, 0 Ego. We also often train this without gear, eliminating any equipment based crutches, forcing better control, and precision. 🌊

Randori is designed to help our students grow and try new or unfamiliar techniques with reduced risk of injury. πŸ€•

We use it across all our current programs including Karate, Kickboxing and Krav Maga, during warm ups or even as the core topic of a session and it is completely beginner friendly! πŸ₯‹πŸ’ͺπŸ₯Š
