BEST VIEWED WITH THE LIGHTS OFF
We've added a side by side tube comparison tool on our website that allows you to pick a scene and select two tubes to view actual footage through each tube side by side. Best viewed on a computer.
When comparing resolution, turn the lights off and see which horizontal and vertical set of black bars can be identified as 3 black bars with 2 spaces in between, making up a "line pair".
Playing with the tool will quickly illustrate that with enough light, almost any tube can be made to look quite good. However as light levels decrease, higher end tubes tend to maintain resolution longer before falling off. Some tubes will also have higher initial brightness than a higher end tube, but in extreme low light will fall off faster than a higher end tube.
