As the new season starts here at the Salmon Arm Skating Club, we want to say THANK YOU to our amazing coaches for their dedication, patience, creativity, love for the sport and our skaters! You have no idea how much you mean to us!

Now a little about our coaches!

Head Coach Jen Brewin - did you know, she has been coaching here in Salmon Arm since 1990. Jen loves nothing more than instilling the love for skating into others and teaching our skaters they can do amazing things!
A little something you may not know about Jen - she can juggle (but now that she says that she’s really worried y’all might ask to see the magic!;) 🤹🏻‍♀️ Also, if you’d like to see some of her mad skating skills - just watch her whip out some ice dance step sequences! 🤩
Her greatest fears - heights and snakes 🐍 EW!!!

Assistant Coach Breanne Honaizer - Breanne has been coaching officially with our club for 8 years, and volunteering for a handful of years prior to that (as well as having been a young skater.
Breanne’s absolute favourite thing about coaching -
100% the skaters, working with her partner in crime coach Jenn & watching students discover a love for the ice (also watching Shay discover her love of coaching)
Did you know she used to have an indoor/outdoor pig named Tater-Tot? 🐖
And her greatest fears - getting behind the wheel! Breanne loves to be your navigator, DJ, and purse candy provider on all road trips - in town or the long drives to competition! 🍬 🎵 🗺️

Coach in Training Shayna Fowler - currently working towards her coaching certificate, Shayna is officially a part of the coaching team this year, after volunteering her time for the last handful of years. Shayna spent the last 11 years as a skater with the club!
Her favourite thing about coaching is seeing the skaters improve and making more connections.
Shayna can be found pretty much anywhere singing and dancing - the weirder the dance move, the louder the singing…. And if you need to know lyrics to pretty much any song 🎶 …. She’s got you!
Greatest fear - Great white sharks 🦈 dun dun….. dun dun….

We want to give a HUGE Congratulations to our region’s very own skate guru, Dave and his partner Karen on their GOLD medal today at the International Adult Competition in Vernon. You both skated beautifully, and we loved cheering you on!!!!

Thank you everyone for such a great season!! We couldn’t be prouder of all our skaters! From Learn to Skate to all of the starskaters. It was an incredible year filled with so many amazing moments. Way to go!
Thank you to all the board members and volunteers that helped make this one of the best seasons yet! We couldn’t do it without you all!! 🥰⛸️

We want to give a special shout and huge congratulations to our 2026 grads, Shayna, Bethany, and Maddie. We are SO proud of you🎓

Another congratulations goes out to Shayna for passing her Gold Artistic this month! ⭐️💛

We also want to wish Don (our rock-steady Zamboni driver) a Happy Retirement. It’s well deserved and we will definitely miss you at the rink! ☺️

PS-Skaters don’t forget your guards/jackets at the rink anymore, we won’t have Don to keep them safe🙊❤️😂

Love some local history? RJ Haney House museum has put together a great display of local artifacts and they have asked Salmon Arm Skating club to be a part of their “Frozen in Time” exhibit!

This local exhibit opening on Wednesday, May 20th at 7 PM.
