November 6th was Take Your Kids to Work day and we were happy to team up with Honey Cut Studios to host seven eager Grade 9's. The morning was spent exploring aspects of engineering with a Lego bridge challenge, building 3D models with Tinkercad and doing an office tour to point out differences in design (architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical). The kids spent some time learning about benefits and ethical use of AI and finished the day with Honey Cut doing a video production boot camp. Their energy was felt in the building, and we hope we inspired them too!

While a little delayed this year thanks to a spring snowfall, several Engcomp employees took to the streets and parks this past week to collect the unsightly trash that has accumulated throughout the winter. Thank you, Engcomp, for supplying the bags and gloves, and to all those who took time out of their busy schedules to help us tidy up our neighbourhoods!

Our team rolled up their sleeves to donate blood again today!

The need for blood is huge right now. They have lost many regular donors as a result of the pandemic. If you are eligible to give, please make and keep an appointment to donate.

Last night, several staff members from Engcomp gathered at a gala to celebrate and honour Saskatoon Tribal Council Tribal Chief Mark Arcand, who was named Saskatoon's Citizen of the Year 2022.

It was a wonderful evening hearing about all of the important work being done in our community by Tribal Chief Arcand and the Chiefs of the Member First Nations around Saskatoon. His nomination and win are well deserved!

On Friday last week, several members of the Engcomp team volunteered at the Saskatoon Tribal Council’s annual Back-to-School Carnival at White Buffalo Youth Lodge. The event is held to provide kids in the community with the tools and supplies they need for a successful school year, and adding a big dose of fun in the process, with bouncy castles, a BBQ, face painting, games, and a DJ.

We were so pleased to support this very worthy cause and lend a helping hand on this incredibly busy day. Thanks to everyone at Engcomp who helped out, and we wish all the kids a great school year!

Jason, Brett, and Craig have been busy getting the new Bones pits ready for the much anticipated tournament this coming weekend! This is always a staff favorite event, and we're all looking forward to gathering for some food, fun, and a little friendly competition. Thanks for the hard work, fellas!

Even though the Reconciliation Saskatoon Rock Your Roots walk was cancelled today, the Engcomp team still met and walked together in the spirit of reconciliation. National Indigenous Peoples Day is an important time to reflect on our actions, both personally and professionally - making sure that we are all pulling in the right direction.

Engcomp’s garden club was digging in the dirt under the warm June sun this afternoon, planting carrots, zucchini, baby and Roma tomatoes, peppers, jalapeños, Swiss chard, kale, radishes, peas, and spinach. Looking forward to working the soil and reaping the rewards of our efforts throughout the summer!
