🚨 DRAFT AN ATHLETE! 🚨

There’s still time to support Team NL on their journey to the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta!
Through our Draft an Athlete fundraiser, businesses, organizations, and community groups can sponsor a Special Olympics NL athlete and help make their national games experience possible. 💙

Your support helps cover travel, training, accommodations, and competition costs while showing our athletes that their community is behind them every step of the way. 🙌

We are proud to share MHA Helen Conway Ottenheimer’s recognition of Law Enforcement Torch Run Week in the House of Assembly for the Harbour Main District.

Since 1989, the Law Enforcement Torch Run has been a powerful example of community partnership with Special Olympics across our province. The commitment shown by law enforcement goes well beyond their daily duties, reflecting a long-standing dedication to inclusion, respect, and opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities.

Thank you to all members of law enforcement who continue to support Special Olympics through this meaningful initiative.

We’d like to thank our friends with Special Olympics PEI for hosting our Health Promotion-Clinical Director, Sarah Lomholt-Purchase of CBS Special Olympics at your Healthy Athletes Event last weekend!

This was a valuable opportunity for some hands-on learning and networking with chapter athletes, staff and health volunteers. As we work to bring these opportunities to NL, it’s great to have a helping hand 🤝 🇨🇦

“We’re all much more alike than we are different, and sport is a great common denominator.” — Dr. Frank Hayden ❤️

The Special Olympics movement exists today because Dr. Frank Hayden believed in a world that too many people could not yet see - one where individuals of all abilities would have the same opportunity to compete, belong, lead and be celebrated through sport.

His vision changed millions of lives across Canada and around the world, and his legacy continues to live on through every Special Olympics athlete, coach, volunteer, family member and supporter touched by the movement he helped create.

Thank you to TSN for this beautiful tribute honouring a Canadian trailblazer whose vision continues to transform lives every single day.
