SARNIA'S DAVIES WINS EAST COAST RUN
A decade after he first raced in Newfoundland as a young Northern high school student, Sarnia's Andrew Davies (below) returned to the Tely 10 Mile Road Race in St. John's last weekend and won the event in record time.
Davies, now 25 and a law school graduate from the University of British Columbia, crossed the finish line in a time of 46:51 eclipsing the race record of Paul McCloy that had stood for more than four decades. McCloy was one of Canada's top middle and long distance runners in the 1980's.
Davies won the race by nearly four minutes.
The race that drew 4,147 runners is a staple of the race scene in the Atlantic provinces.

Congratulations 👏
They will be updated for the 99th!
What a day☀️! Who else ran the Tely 10 Mile Road Race🙋🏽♂️? Show us your snaps📸! I ran my lucky 13th🍀 Tely 10 Race! Thousands of supporters lined the route today and what energy ya’ll brought! Running for me is an outlet and keeps my mental health in check. While I work damn hard, I’m a firm believer in a work life balance and summer is my recharge time to tackle the Fall/Christmas season! Ran today with my bestie Karen who you might know from NL’s own The Ennis Sisters🎶, maybe they could sing the Ode To Newfoundland next year to kick off the race😛🎤!
Hoping this is the kick off to summer☀️? We’re gonna enjoy it to the fullest🙌🏽 before we break out the lights🎄and tinsel for the upcoming season🎁!
P.S. Been saying it for years but might be time for the Tely 10 organizers to update those photo op borders🙈 🙈
