Welcome to The Flock, Kakuma Pride FC
-
Kakuma Pride shocked Nairobi on July 28th when they defeated Kahawa Pride 2-1 at Nyayo National Stadium, but their story goes back much further.
Composed of the top talents inside Kakuma Refugee Camp, a camp with over 300,000 inhabitants, Kakuma Pride became an affiliate club of Kahawa Pride earlier this year.
Despite having an abundance of talent, the lack of a structured league inside the camp combined with the fact that any club who signs a player would have to house them as well, scouts never visit Kakuma.
But now, with the infrastructure that we have built through Kahawa Pride, there is now a talent bridge between Kakuma and the rest of the world for the first time ever. Additionally, Kakuma Pride is now a registered club playing in their local county league, bringing organized football back to the camp for the first time since 2021.
We invited Kakuma Pride to Nairobi for a friendly against Kahawa Pride, and they did the impossible - defeating Kahawa Pride 2-1 with a performance that no one saw coming.
Several standout players caught our eye, and as we rebuild the squad in preparation for next season, expect to see some Kakuma Pride players join the Kahawa Pride roster very soon.
From no opportunity to a chance to play in front of millions through our Road to the Kenyan Premier League docuseries, Kakuma Pride is one of the most incredible stories we’ve ever been a part of.
