THE ELITE PATHWAY 🤝 THE COACHES

When people watch a competition, they see athletes stepping onto the mat. They see the matches, the victories, the defeats, and sometimes the medals.

What they rarely see is everything that happens behind the scenes.

The conversations before competition day. The technical adjustments made after practice. The planning, analysis, and preparation that begin months before an athlete ever steps onto the mat.

At Ipê Dojo, coaching goes far beyond teaching techniques.

It means helping athletes navigate success without becoming complacent and setbacks without losing confidence. It means holding athletes accountable, setting standards, and providing direction when the path forward is unclear.

Sometimes it means celebrating achievements. Sometimes it means having difficult conversations.

Both are equally important.

The goal of a coach is to help athletes develop the habits, character, and mindset that allow results to happen.

More importantly, the goal is to create an environment where champions have the opportunity to emerge.

Every medal belongs to the athlete.

But every medal also carries the fingerprints of the coaches, training partners, parents, volunteers, and supporters who helped make that moment possible.

We’re not trying to change who girls are.

We’re helping them discover what they’re already capable of becoming.

🤔 Did you know that by age 14, girls are dropping out of sports at nearly twice the rate of boys?

Not because they’re less capable.

Because too many never find an environment where they feel they belong.

🙌🏼 We’re working to change that.

By creating a place where girls learn that being strong, competitive, and ambitious is something to be celebrated, not apologized for.

🥇 Buenos Aires Junior Panamerican Cup Champion

On her international debut representing Canada, Marcela fought her way to the top of the podium and returned home with gold.

The first international tournament is usually about gaining experience.

Marcela gained something else.

A gold medal, a place at the top of the podium, and a memory that will stay with her forever.

The beginning of an exciting international journey.

THE ELITE PATHWAY 🥇

When people see a medal, they see the result.

What they don’t see are the early mornings, the extra training sessions, the long drives, the sacrifices, the setbacks, and the countless hours spent chasing improvement.

At Ipê Dojo, the Elite Pathway is more than a competition program.

It is a long-term commitment to growth, discipline, resilience, and excellence, on and off the mat.

Through coaching, education, travel opportunities, competition support, and significant investment from families and the dojo itself, our athletes are given the tools to pursue their highest potential.

Over the next four weeks, we’ll take you behind the scenes of the Ipê Competition Team and share the people and systems that make high performance possible.

Because champions are never built alone.

Welcome to the Ipê Elite Pathway.

THEY NEED TO BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES.

Every child faces challenges.

Some are shy.
Some struggle with confidence.
Some are afraid to fail.
Some simply don’t realize what they are capable of.

The goal of martial arts isn’t to create fighters.

It’s to help children discover their own strength.

Through Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, they learn to overcome obstacles, handle setbacks, show respect, and keep moving forward when things get difficult.

Every fall becomes a lesson.
Every challenge becomes an opportunity to grow.
Every small victory becomes proof that they can do more than they thought possible.

Because the strongest defense against bullying isn’t aggression.

It’s self-belief.

WHAT ARE YOU REALLY SIGNING UP FOR?

Most parents think they’re signing their child up for Judo or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

They’re not.

They’re investing in something much bigger.

A place where children learn to listen, work hard, face challenges, respect others, and keep going when things get difficult.

The throws, takedowns, pins, and techniques are important.

But they’re just the vehicle.

What we’re really teaching is how to be a better teammate, a better friend, and a stronger, more confident human being.

Years from now, most children won’t remember every technique they learned.

They will remember the lessons.

And those lessons stay with them for life.

- Discipline
- Confidence
- Resilience

The belt isn’t the goal.

The person they become is.

⛩️ Judo Is For Everyone 🥋☝🏼

Today we welcomed four new black belts into the Ipê Dojo family.

As I looked at them standing together, I couldn’t help but think about how different their journeys have been.

Philip, at 16 years old, became the youngest black belt in our dojo’s history. Years of training, growth, victories, setbacks, and perseverance brought him to this moment.

Denis, at 70 years old, became our oldest black belt ever. His achievement is proof that it is never too late to challenge yourself and pursue a meaningful goal.

Nicolas grew up on these mats. As the son of two sensei, he has spent his entire life in the dojo, carrying both the privilege and the pressure that comes with it. Today, he earned a black belt that is entirely his own.

Victor, one of Ipê Dojo’s very first students from white to black belt, he balanced Judo with the responsibilities of being an immigrant, a father, and a hardworking professional. Through it all, he never stopped showing up.

Four black belts.

Four different stories.

One shared lesson.

Judo is not about age, background, or where you start. It is about perseverance, humility, respect, and the courage to keep moving forward.

A 16-year-old and a 70-year-old stood side by side today, proving that there is no single path in Judo.

Only the decision to keep coming back to the mat.

Congratulations Philip, Dennis, Nicolas, and Victor.

Judo truly is for everyone. 🥋🖤💛

SHE BELONGS HERE. 🥋

Strength has nothing to do with gender.

It’s built through discipline.
Through hard training.
Through showing up when things get difficult.
Through learning to fall and getting back up again.

At Ipê Dojo, we don’t teach girls to be tough.

We help them discover that they already are.

💛 Confidence.
💛 Resilience.
💛 Focus.
💛 Determination.

Because confidence isn’t given. It’s earned on the mat.
