Excite the nervous system.
Pre game routines need to be straight and to the point.
Increase body temperature.
Excite the nervous system to increase alertness.
Prepare the body for the movement patterns within the sport.
Once this is done my job is to get out of the way and let the coaching staff and athletes do their sport-specific preparation.
The main focus of our pre-game routines is to gradually prepare the athlete’s body and nervous system for the demands of competition.
This includes increasing body temperature, enhancing nervous system excitability, and increasing muscle fibre recruitment.
We start with general movements and progressively transition to more specific, game-related activities.
Start general. Finish specific.
