VIRS Awards Luncheon The first annual awards event for the Vancouver Island Racing Series will take place Saturday 19 October at the Chiefs and Petty Officer's Mess on Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt. 1575 Lyall St, Victoria, BC V9A 5K5 Doors open at 1300 for socialising and lunch, and the awards presentation will start....

BC Sailing has added two classes to the Coastal Personal Survival Course schedule for early 2024.
Lower Mainland:
Saturday March 16, 2024 at the West Vancouver Yacht Club
Sunday March 17, 2024 at the West Vancouver Yacht Club – new!
Vancouver Island:
Saturday March 23, 2024 at the Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club
Sunday March 24, 2024 at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club – new!
The Coastal Personal Survival Course is a 1 day course for experienced sailors who are participating in World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations (OSR) Category 3-4 passages or events such as the Southern Straits Race, Patos Island Race, Swiftsure Race, and Cascadian Convoy. The course includes classroom and practical sessions and is Sail Canada approved.
Coastal Personal Survival Course topics include personal safety equipment, heavy weather sails, obtaining and interpreting local weather forecasts, hypothermia and cold water immersion, crew overboard recovery, emergency signals and communications.
Registration opens for the two newly added classes at 7:00 am Pacific Time on Monday February 5. Registration is first come, first served.
