Founded in 2006 by Taylor McCaffrey LLP lawyer and 3-time Canadian Amateur Champion Ryan Savage, United Boxing Club is non-profit organization dedicated to the teaching and advancement of the sport of Olympic Style Boxing. United Boxing Club adheres to the Canada Sport For Life and Boxing Canada Long Term Athlete Development Plan (LTAD), which includes accessibility to positive lifestyle and fitness opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities. United Boxing Club has produced several members of the Canadian National Team for Olympic-style boxing, and retains three as coaches who guide and develop our Competitive Team. What an unforgettable evening celebrating United Boxing Club’s 20th Anniversary. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make Melee Gala XI such a tremendous success.

A huge congratulations to Team Canada and Team USA for showcasing the very best of Olympic-style boxing. Thank you to every boxer, coach, and club who travelled from near and far to compete and make this event one to remember. Your sportsmanship, talent, and dedication were on full display throughout the night.

To our amazing volunteers, officials, sponsors, staff, medical team, and everyone working behind the scenes—thank you. Your time, hard work, and commitment made this event possible.

Finally, thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and cheered on the athletes. Your energy created an incredible atmosphere and helped make Manitoba's Premier Boxing Gala Event another unforgettable success.

George Chuvalo was our special guest at Melee at the Met II in 2014, an event that featured Canada vs. Puerto Rico, several of our own boxers, and the first-ever Corporate Challenge.

George was a true Canadian boxing icon. Throughout his legendary career, he faced some of the greatest heavyweights in the world, including Muhammad Ali twice. Remarkably, George was never knocked down in 93 professional fights — a testament to the incredible toughness and resilience that defined him inside the ring.

Beyond the ring, George became known for his incredible resilience, courage, and strength in facing addiction and the devastating loss of family members to su***de.

His impact on Canadian boxing, and on the countless people who knew his story, will not be forgotten.

United Boxing Club extends our deepest condolences to George’s family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Liam Koppanyi was recently scouted and invited to participate in Boxing Canada’s U23 Training Camp in Montreal, while being accompanied by Coach Kent.

We’re extremely excited to see what this experience brings for Liam and how it contributes to his continued development. We’re equally excited to see Coach Kent alongside him and the experience they’ll bring back to our team.

Both Liam and Coach Kent will also be part of our 2026 Melee Gala, sharing the stage with professional athletes from Team Canada and Team USA. 🇨🇦🇺🇸
