Sustainability is more than a goal at the Manitoba Marathon—it’s something we work toward every day.
This year, we’re proud to share that we achieved a 92% waste diversion rate, officially classifying the Manitoba Marathon as a Zero Waste Event. 🌎♻️
Even more impressive? Despite welcoming 20% more participants than last year, we generated just 4 kg more landfill waste. That’s a testament to the collective effort of our runners, volunteers, spectators, partners and sustainability team.
Every small action adds up. Thank you for helping us make race day better for our community—and for the planet. 💚

After losing Rono in 2025, Fahim chose to carry his name throughout the marathon—a tribute to the person who taught him to dream big. Because, as Fahim shared, some people deserve to keep running even after they're gone.
His story is also a powerful reminder that behind every bib number is a story we may never fully know. ❤️
