The three provincial ASL/English interpreting organizations in Western Canada – ASLIA, MAVLI, and WAVLI – are pleased to announce that they are working together to organize a regional conference for interpreters working with sign languages.

The objective of this conference is to allow interpreters, both Deaf and hearing, to refresh their passion for the profession, reframe on how their work has contributed to the heart of interpreting, and reconnect with each other in this exciting profession.

ASL-English Interpretation Program Open House

Date: Thursday, Sept. 25 • 3:30 PM and 6 PM

Location: RRC Polytech Notre Dame Campus

MAVLI's Professional Development is excited to be hosting a SHIFT Session for MAVLI members this month on Monday, September 22nd at 7pm!

We will be discussing where we are currently finding inspiration and motivation in our work and how we can support our colleagues when these things are in short supply. Expecting to always feel inspired is unrealistic, but how can we as interpreters maintain a higher level of motivation in our field and throughout our careers. Let's get this conversation started!

Friendly reminder that MAVLI's Professional Development will host their next SHIFT session this coming Wednesday, February 21st from 7-9pm on Zoom!

The topic will be “What are you afraid of?” In our upcoming SHIFT session, we will discuss considerations for accepting assignments that scare us. What factors should we reflect on before taking these bookings, and how do we decide if our fears represent a challenge to be faced, or an indication that we need to decline?
