Tough final outings to end the ice season especially the run & gun with 🥲 Fish were stubborn and footage was lost. Pulling a sled for two hours through slush was an experience. I think I need to choose another lake to be the season closer because this one may be cursed. Last year here, my season came to an abrupt close by drilling the first hole straight into rocks (and didn’t have spare blades). Time to press the reset button because open water season is here!

The bobber definitely helped with bite detection! If you have ever watched underwater camera footage of perch, the smart ones know exactly how to avoid the hook to nibble at or pluck off the bait.
Absolute chaos. I finally understand how a pike can be landed by its tail…if only my arm was 4 feet long.

Heavy snow, no tracks, no problem! I believe usually taxies with a SnoBear but swapped to sleds because of slush - we definitely weren’t complaining and our drop-off spot was fantastic. Frozen minnows are my go-to ice fishing bait so I am very pleased to have caught with a plastic. Only one fish fell for it and it was a beautiful walleye. Thank you for the recommendation!

Went all in to catch nothing 😌 This was a small derby for the local ladies (I traveled 2 hours) and a total of 5 pike were caught (NOT at the aerators lol). Quite impressed cus I moved around and scanned with no marks. I was hoping to at least find a walleye as this reservoir is stocked yearly. Took home a big ol’ skunk as well as two nice windshield rock chips. And this concludes my derby career! Thank you!

Signed off on the ice season this week - this marks 1 year of and 2 years of fishing! I spent the last day with Sir Smitty trudging through slush and surface water. The exceptional snow cover this winter was undoubtedly a tough adversary and a snowmobile now ranks #1 on my wishlist lol. Stay tuned for the videos I have lined up to close out the season!
Also PLEASE tell me what fish is on LiveScope - is it a sucker? I sure felt like one jigging on its head for over a minute…
