❤️Two classic handstand shape 'mistakes'.
Trying to avoid arching, the safety pike shape happens where active legs and hip flexors actually pulls the hips a bit back and into anterior tilt (despite all the hollow body drills you've done)
Trying to just be in a handstand, many bodies naturally end up in an arched handstand, but that's a different story and mostly has to do with lacking shoulder flexibility.
It's the flexible shoulder people who often need to worry about that subtle hips-back position that can feel natural and safe, but actually isn't straight even tho it feels like it sometimes.
Thurst your hips forward without arching your backs, that's the true hollow position.
‼️If you do hollow body, watch out your feet aren't too high off the floor, for example
Remember straight shape is not good it's gmjust straight. Straightness is at most an enticing side-quest, please don't make it your main quest 🙏⚡💥

Physical work is essential... In community building, in using your fitness for something bigger than yourself, for your health and maybe even wellbeing - and knowing how to get s**t done makes you a total badass too 😎
I haven't achieved my final form in this regard yet at all ! But I guess it never ends either.
(Will have to learn to cook if I'm going to be all round badass. 😂)
We have enjoyed really active weeks at Uberört Festival / .copenhagen and where we taught workshops and joined a lot of stuff as well, all the while raising the too young'uns who are growing and learning and thriving (and keeping .studio Up at night too ❤️🩹
And this video is from some of the chill family time we had in between ❤️
Last year 30 mins - this year 30 seconds
That's how long it took for me to feel ready for this dive kong.
The prep is the parkour, in some way. Once you know you can, the pathway is open and travelling that path - after being impossible - becomes
1. Possible
2. Easy
3. Elegant
(These words are from a great Moshe feldencrais quote)
With practice and many many intentful repetitions, of course.
But that first impossible stage, the wrestling with that phase... Thru easier versions of the same task, simulations so to speak, and mind games, imagination in one word, to get closer and closer to a point of clarity.
The clarity, that now the path is open to me.
And all you gotta do is walk thru that door.
But you can't see that it's open or you're so afraid to mess it up and miss the odoor (and die) that the pathway becomes to unclear or uncertain to dare to walk thru.
And that's what this video shows, its boring to watch because it's not a trick but that process is much of what can be transformative about parkour and teach you about yourself (under pressure)
So cool to be at this week, so many people supporting, cheering, helping and I've done both new and old challenges like this that require full presence and activation - love it ! ❤️💥
3 reps progressively better. First rep was just about doing it without freaking out.
Next few raps I got coached and managed to push harder with my hands, get my feet more out in front and land way cleaner.
As I mentioned last post, I learned this move years and years ago in a short 4-month period of intense parkour practice.
Now with good strength training and taking care of myself the skill still sits there, able to be taken out from memory and cleaned of rust.
It feels like self mastery. The pressure of the height makes it super intense, it's a moment of you-must-believe-in-yourself you-are-IT-not-someone-else-YOU
I love parkour ❤️
is where I first learned parkour in 2010 . That year i learned this move the first time as a 18yr old.
Now I'm 34 and the last three years I've done it once a year at International Gathering.
The other years I was actually mostly dancing but had a couple parlor sessions. And the move took me a bunch of prep, both easier progressions and like 5-15 minutes of checking it out
This year I'm doing parkour (easier with two kids and I was always curious about doing parkour the whole week any way!) and for a couple reasons, maybe more, I nearly just went up and did it this time.
I had done just a few cat landings first and in the video you see my entire prep on the spot lasting around 2 minutes.
- It's probably because I'm at least as strong as last year, I think stronger
- it's probably because my nervous system was primed nicely by doing bunch of parkour and climbing stuff during the day and the day before
- it's probably because I knew I could do it, making it easier to realize it's just a matter of doing it and not overthinking (while at the same time actually doing the prep to feel truly confident and in the right mind)
Thanks to Kevin for feedback I'll post the 3 reps I did tomorrow showing a small technical improvement ❤️
I don't think anyone is in doubt who takes it
studio with a better hip thrust, better tennis ball placement and better looks offfff courrrrrse
Me vs .studio I might win the sissy squat but never the subtle battle for power 😂
Part 2 coming tomorrow - who do YOU want to battle in sissy squats?
That was hard, 1/10 success rate. But fun! And not impossible.. but requires a serious recalibration of how to use my hands!
Been to the skate park maybe 12/16 last days teaching - or witnessing - my son learning to bike. And I gotta have some fun too 😉
Gear straps skal du have - ellers så du ikke en rigtig...

VACATION. A few clips of amazing clients from this week 🤩 Love the serious, love the fun, love the progress.
Many of the clips are from the exercise videos I edit afterwards for people to know what to do when they go home and train 💪 (that's the reason for the voiceover and text and such 😉 )
Now it's vacation time! You can still write me, get the intake form and get sessions booked for August, I'll be back on the 10th.
(I'm still available for online coaching if you are already a client 👍)
It's been a good July with a great time at Uberört Festival and two weeks of a bit more chill work, still seeing a bunch of people, a bit more cozy classes in .copenhagen than usual and lots of family time as well. ❤️❤️
