Have you ever heard of the Rosenthal Effect?
It’s a psychological theory that suggests people often rise to the expectations placed upon them. It got me reflecting on how much of our lives are shaped not only by what others believe about us, but by the stories we believe about ourselves.
A recent conversation with one of our Yoga Teacher Training students sparked a deeper reflection on inherited beliefs, self-doubt, personal growth and the role yoga has played in helping me question the limitations I once thought were my destiny.
I’ve shared my thoughts in my latest blog.
I’d love to know your thoughts after reading it.
The Stories We Inherit: Yoga, Self-Belief and Personal Growth | Ibiza Yoga Retreats
A few days ago, I came across a psychological theory called the Rosenthal Effect. The theory suggests that people often rise to the expectations placed upon them. In one famous study, teachers were told that certain students showed exceptional potential. In reality, those students had been selected....

For many years, we are mothers, partners, carers, supporters and providers.
We become so skilled at caring for everyone else that we often forget to ask ourselves a simple question:
What about me?
This week’s article explores the idea that midlife is not an ending, but the beginning of a different kind of journey. A pilgrimage back to yourself.
If you’ve ever felt a longing for something more, a quiet restlessness, or a desire to reconnect with who you are beneath the responsibilities of daily life, this reflection may resonate with you.

This morning, after class, a guest shared something that stayed with me.
She realised how much of her life had been spent caring for everyone around her. Her children, her family, the people she loves. Even now that her children are adults, she recognised how little time she had devoted to her own healing and growth.
It sparked a reflection.
In many traditions, there comes a stage of life when people step back from their responsibilities and begin a pilgrimage. Not to escape their lives, but to reconnect with themselves.
Yet in our culture, many women feel guilt when they prioritise their own wellbeing. We are taught how to care for others, but not always how to care for ourselves.
Perhaps the restlessness many women feel in midlife is not a sign that something is wrong.
Perhaps it is a call to listen more deeply.
To rediscover what brings meaning, joy and aliveness.
To remember who you are beneath all the roles you have played.
I’d love to know your thoughts.
Have you ever reached a point in life where you felt called back to yourself?

Our Practice Is Not Black and White.
Yoga is often presented as a series of rules, labels and absolutes.
Do this.
Don’t do that.
This style is right.
That style is wrong.
But real practice is rarely that simple.
Over the years, I’ve learnt that yoga is less about fitting ourselves into rigid ideas and more about developing the awareness to meet ourselves honestly in each moment.
Some days practice looks strong and disciplined.
Some days it looks like rest.
Some days it asks us to move forwards.
Some days it asks us to soften.
The beauty of yoga isn’t found in perfection. It’s found in the ability to listen.
I’ve shared some thoughts on this in our latest blog.

Behind every retreat is a small team who genuinely care about the experience we create for every guest who joins us 🤍
From the yoga practices and retreat space held by Ananda, to the nourishing meals prepared daily by César, to the warmth and support Sarah brings throughout each retreat — everything is created with intention, care and heart.
One of the things guests often say is how personal the experience feels… and that’s because we keep it that way.
Small groups. Genuine connection. Beautiful food. Thoughtful practices. A space to fully exhale.
