Davo has been absolutely outstanding from the first whistle of the season right through to the last. Week in week out, he produced big saves, kept us in games when we needed him most, and was a huge part of everything we achieved this year.
It says a lot when a goalkeeper is voted Players’ Player of the Year by his teammates. The lads have recognised just how important he has been to our success, and it’s an award that couldn’t have gone to a more deserving winner.
Of course, the moment that will live long in the memory was his penalty save on the big stage, helping Shaw Inn FC lift the County Cup and write a special chapter in the club’s history.

Shaw Inn FC brought the curtain down on the season yesterday morning with a trip to Carlton Park to face Sun Inn on what was an absolutely roasting Bank Holiday Sunday.
With the season already wrapped up and the lads simply wanting to enjoy the final day together, the decision was made before kick-off to throw a bit of “position roulette” into the mix, meaning players were randomly assigned positions all over the pitch for a laugh. Goalkeeper Aaron Davison lining up at centre half probably summed the morning up perfectly and what a game he had btw.
Sun Inn struck first during the opening half, but The Blues responded well through Brandon Glaves, who grabbed the equaliser after a good spell from the lads, rounding off his season in style. Sun Inn would restore their lead shortly after, but the result almost felt secondary with both teams enjoying the occasion and the sunshine throughout.
Then came the moment nobody saw coming.
With around 20 minutes remaining, manager Ellis Martin-Meigh decided to give himself a late cameo up front. Three minutes after coming on, Joe Bambrough won a free-kick in a dangerous area, and somehow the gaffer bent one into the top corner off the crossbar and straight in before immediately subbing himself back off the pitch. One touch, one goal, job done. What a goal.
Sun Inn eventually found the winner in what turned out to be a brilliant spirited game between two sides enjoying their football the way it should be played. Massive respect to everyone at Sun Inn as well, top set of lads all game, great sports throughout and a proper good attitude from start to finish. We wish them all the best next season 👏
As this marks the final game of the season, we just want to say a huge thank you to everybody involved with Shaw Inn FC this year. From the players, supporters and sponsors to everybody who’s helped behind the scenes, it’s been a season we’ll never forget.
County Cup champions. Memories for life. Laughter every week. A proper group of mates that’s become more than just a football team.
What a year it’s been.
Until next season, Up The Shaw Inn🩵

Shaw Inn FC were narrowly beaten by Wombwell Main in a hard-fought encounter last night, with the game ultimately decided by a stoppage-time winner despite a battling performance from The Blues throughout.
From the first whistle, the lads showed real determination and character against a strong young Wombwell side, competing for every ball and never once letting the intensity drop. Chances came at both ends in a game that was played at a high tempo throughout, with Shaw Inn matching the hosts for long periods.
Mackenzie Grierson got himself on the scoresheet with another big goal, continuing to step up for the team when it matters most and giving the lads something to build from during a difficult battle.
In the end, it was heartbreak right at the death as Wombwell found a stoppage-time winner to take the points. The result however doesn’t take away from what this group has achieved this season. County Cup champions, countless memories made, and a team that’s continued to grow together every single week. There was plenty of noise before and after the game, but we’ll let the silverware from this season do the talking.
Massive credit to Wombwell Main, a very good young side with plenty of quality, and we wish them all the best in the play-offs👌🏻
The lads can keep their heads held high. This season has been special for Shaw Inn Football Club, and we couldn’t be prouder of every single person involved.
MOM🏆 – Marley Whitam
Stepped up and went in goal as an outfield player for the team and did himself absolutely proud. Brave performance, put his body on the line and gave everything for the badge from start to finish 👏
