Today the girls faced Cottingham in the league cup and with some disappointment from last week looked to get back to winning ways.

No different message from any other week , believe in your ability , get hold of the ball and press, which from the first whistle was the case.

Barton got hold of the ball and looked to break the deadlock early on, three good chances falling to the girls in the first 10 minutes just didn’t come off , but they kept going down the wings and through the middle.

It’s was only a matter of time before the deadlock was broken , good work through the middle and Poppy pouncing to stab home the ball to make it 1-0.

Barton’s back three didn’t have anything much to do, but was looking for the pass to create chances for the middle of and forwards to run onto . The game became a bit sloppy as we couldn’t get our foot onto the ball , but the girls still pressed and another chances fell to Poppy who made it 2-0.

The half ended 2-0 , Barton had several chances that should have increased that lead before halftime, but they kept going trying to make the chances count.

Second half Cottingham tried to attack more , a couple of players started to create some problems but the girls stood fast and defended well. Soon after Barton got hold of the game again and started to press from the back , chances being created and giving the Cottingham keeper plenty to do .

Some good work through midfield and the ball fell to Poppy again to complete her hatrick , well deserved.

Caitlin stepped up to take a corner , placed the ball down nicely and whipped it in and what a great ball it was flying into the far top corner making it 4-0.

All Barton players getting stuck in , creating more chances but sometimes needed to put a foot on the ball and look up , nevertheless they all were playing well and had four more opportunities to increase that didn’t come off .

Cottingham found a couple chances come close , Izzy making good saves. They didn’t manage to scare a late consolation goal as the game ended 4-1 to Barton.

A good game , areas to work on but they progress into the next round .
Well done girls and and many thanks for the support from the sidelines .

Today the girls had a home game against Hull United, always a strong game of football that can go either way.

Barton low on players today due to injuries went into the game with ten , so with only one sub means plenty of game time for them all .

The game started and was clear that Hull had come for the points , playing some nice football between some tricky players but the girls held their own , getting stuck in and looking to play football. The ball broke free for Barton and with some pressing on the defenders from Poppy and then the goalkeeper resulted in the ball becoming loose and Poppy slotting it away to make it 1-0.

This spurred Hull on and they started to play some good football getting at our fullbacks and putting some good balls into the box , this resulted in the ball getting free in the Barton box and Hull got to the it first to make it 1-1 .

Some great defending from all three girls was keeping Hull at bay and some great saves from Izzy. Barton created some chances of there own mainly down the right and into the middle but to no avail.

The midfield had a day that needed lots of running ,which they sure gave 110% pushing forward and dropping back.

A strong tackle from Barton resulted in a free kick for Hull , just in the half of Barton . The player stepped up and unleashed a strong shot at goal , to which Lilly met it with her forehead for a great clearance.

As we approached half time , Hull pressed forward and with a clearance from Barton the ball fell to a Hull player ,who hit it first time and took a wild deflection to make it 2-1 .

Half time

As the second half started Barton pressed forward with Milly chasing down the ball and pressing Hull, the girls started the second half brightly looking for the goal but Hull stood firm and started to create chances. Kaitlin had been in a battle all game but stood strong looking to play football . Beabs holding off players twice her size played really well and Briony on her first full game back after injury , up against a quick tricky winger battled hard .

Izzy was having a great game in goal, coming to the ball and handling well.

Roisin , Niamh ,Charlai and Lilly working their socks off in midfield and on the wings looking to get the ball through to Poppy up top who was pressing the defenders at every opportunity.

A chance broke to Hull who managed to slot it away to make it 3-1 , which is how the game ended.

All the girls should be very proud of how they approached the game today, we had injuries , we have lost a couple so a little transition at present . But they still stuck to task and supported each other as a team against one of , if not the best in the league .

As always many thanks to the families for coming to support , it’s greatly appreciated .

Parents players - Poppy with her well taken goal by pressing , trying to hold the ball up all game and making runs

Managers player - Kaitlin due to being an absolute rock at the back , looking to get onto the ball , play the pass.

Today the girls welcomed Priory Pumas to Baysgarth, it was a bit of the unknown as they are new to the league but we had heard they are a good side and had won all games played so far.

We set our game plan and as normal early mornings the girls start slow ,it was clear from the kick off Priory was here to give the girls a game. They played some nice football to create spaces and they did this all game , some tricky players who kept on moving. This was different to what Barton have been used to previously.

Izzy who stepped up to play in goal did a fantastic job , some great saves throughout and commanded her box.

Barton at the end of the first half and most of the second half created chances , mainly Niamh running through on at least four occasions we just couldn’t find the back of the net.

The above said Priory passed the ball very well , first to the ball and took the chances.

We welcomed back Briony today after a lengthy lay off due to injury for the last ten minutes , this was great to see and will build her confidence back up .

The game ended 6-0 to Priory , a result the girls are not used to. As we discussed at the end of the game , we take the learnings into training and develop together. Build on the bond they have , and work on what’s needed.

Priory well deserved winners.

Parents players went to Niamh, a fantastic performance driving forward and unlucky on four occasions not to get into the score sheet . Great energy.

Managers player went to Poppy , at half time we spoke about a few areas of improvement needed as a team and Poppy took these on board and delivered the results. The main one was stopping the quick play from the back.

As always thank you to the parents , great support.

We go into training Tuesday and work hard.

Matchday for the girls today saw them travel to Beverley, always a good game to be part of and we knew it was going to be a test after the battles we have had previously.

It’s been a challenging start to the season with squad numbers, mainly due to injuries and with having three that couldn’t take part today so we had to step up and work hard.

The game started and it was clear we hadn’t got out of bed as yet , a slow start not being first to the ball and Beverley being on the front foot , getting to the ball first down the wings and creating chances. Barton dug deep and held them off but shots started to come but to no avail from Beverley.

Barton girls started to play some football , from the back , played into Lilah who quickly got past two players and played a great ball to Poppy , still with plenty to do she took on the defender and keeper to slot it past the keeper with her left foot making it 1-0 to the girls .

Beverley still pressed but couldn’t find the back of the net, the defence starting to hold their own and chances started to be created for Barton, this time through midfield and a shot from just inside the box resulted in a penalty for the girls . Ayda stepped up and placed it really well into the left hand corner, great composed finish.

Half time 2-0 to Barton

We had a good chat during the break, needed to up our game and get first to the ball , play football , pass and move .

Second half and wow they certainly did step it up.

The girls came out wanting to improve and create chances , soon as the second half started they was very much on top. Creating chances , playing some lovely football and getting to the ball quicker.

A free kick was awarded just out side the box of Beverley to Barton , Lilah stepped up and delivered a fantastic shot on goal , which sailed into the top left hand corner.

Barton continued to push forward, creating chance after chance but on occasions with loss of composure the shots didn’t trouble Beverley.

Midway through the second half Barton turned into prime Barcelona , picking the ball up at the back , passing into midfield , across midfield , then onto the wing , then with a cross in from Ayda , Caitlin put the ball into the net . A great goal and team approach to it .

Beverley started to try get back into the game , but the defensive stood strong getting stuck in at every chance , then looking to play the ball out .

Barton hadn’t finished just yet , a corner taken by Ayda found its way to Lilah which slotted it away with ease.

The girls carried on pushing forward , more chances being created and then a clearance from Beverley fell to Poppy just inside their halfway line who took a first time shot to lob over the keeper into the net . A great goal

Each player got involved today , building on the first half and working for each other. They deserved the win and took the chances which in the past hasn’t been the case . Well done to all.

Parents player went to Poppy for her well taken goals today and work rate .

Managers player went to Milly for stepping in at the back today , we have injuries in defence so greatly appreciated Milly stepped in again , played fantastic coming to the ball , getting stuck in , heading and looking for the pass .

Lots of positives to take from the performance today, and also areas to work on in training to develop further.

There were a few tears at the end today, as Darcy our goalkeeper who has been fantastic for us is moving onto her new team Hessle , playing a year up and 11 aside to support her development.
It goes without saying she will missed and we wish her all the best, as well as Mark and Hayley who have supported the girls and the club massively the last few years . Thank you and good luck.

It’s not the end as most will still see each other with other teams they play for.

As always many thanks for the travelling supporters.
