Two epic dives this morning in La Herradura with the Reading crew and Ocean Turtle UK, and I have literally never seen so many fish on a single dive.

Schools of barracuda cruising overhead, and then a veritable fish soup on the reef below. After decades of diving all over the world, I’m still blown away by what’s sitting a short swim from the shore here on Spain’s Costa Tropical.

Thank you to the Reading BSAC divers and the OTd contingent for travelling out and bringing such brilliant energy. You made two already incredible dives even better.

All the candidates gained confidence, overcame some challenges and smashed there Instuctor Exam. We are so proud of them and cannot wait to see them teaching new divers how to blow bubbles.

Coral doesn’t grow back on its own fast enough anymore. So people help.

This week our instructor candidates joined a cleaning dive at the Barbados Blue coral nursery, led by Logan an instructor who trained with us last year. Slow, careful work clearing algae and debris from the frames and giving each fragment the care it needs to thrive, so it can one day be returned to the reef and help it recover.

Every fragment on those lines could one day be part of a living reef again. It’s quiet, patient work, and it matters.

Two days. Classroom to Water. 🐢
Watching our IDC candidates find their feet has been something special. Every briefing a little sharper. Every skill demo a little calmer. Every decision made with a bit more conviction.
Because becoming an instructor isn’t just learning how to teach. It’s learning to trust yourself, take control and lead with confidence, above and below the surface.

and landed in Barbados yesterday to run a Instructor Development Course in collaboration with Dive Centre — course starts tomorrow, but today was all diving.

Two dives in and the universe delivered: seahorses tucked into the reef, spotted eagle rays cruising past in the blue, and turtles everywhere you looked. We also got back to the coral nursery we visited last year, and seeing the growth and changes was amazing.

Excited for what’s ahead this week as we start turning a group of divemasters into confident and capable instructors. More from the course soon.

We are bursting with pride to announce that Ocean Turtle Diving, a PADI Platinum Career Development Centre, is partnering with Eton College, one of the most respected names in education anywhere in the world.

We spent the day exploring the extensive campus, getting to know the incredible pool facilities and Dorney Lake, and mapping out what’s ahead: introducing the boys to the underwater world, and the physics, physiology and problem-solving that scuba diving teaches, without them even realising they’re learning it.
