Entries are open for the 2027 Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards 🏅

It could be YOU joining us at the Fattorini workshop to see your piece being brought to life.

We're collaborating on the 2D Medal Design brief again, and this time we're asking entrants to design an anniversary medal in honour of the Goldsmiths' Company's 700th year, presented as a gift from BAO, Fattorini and the winning designer.

We love supporting a 2D category, as truly anyone can get involved.

An adventure beyond the Jewellery Quarter this morning to see Ed James at BBC Wolverhampton & Black Country!

Our CEO Roxanne Guest and Commercial Manager Marie Brennan represented Birmingham Assay Office live on the radio waves 🏄‍♀️

It's well-documented that we love to shout about the JQ and all the amazing skills we have on offer in our city. A big thanks to Ed for inviting us to highlight hallmarking and consumer protection by BAO.

Explaining all we do as a centre of assurance in a few minutes is a near-impossobke task, but Roxy and Marie summarised our work brilliantly.

A party with a dog is the best kind of party 🎉 🐕

We had a fab evening at The Button Factory last night, celebrating five years of Bespoke Quarter!

It was wonderful to see so many Jewellery Quarter friends and colleagues (and Ziggy 🐶) come together to toast BQ's success.

Great to raise a glass to the company, its founders, and team, all while raising money for Birmingham Children's Hospital 👏

Happy birthday, Bespoke Quarter! 🎂

We were ready to explain hallmarking at length but were thrilled to find plenty of people already knew all about BAO.

Always a pleasure to welcome the Lord Mayor of Birmingham to Birmingham Assay Office ⚓️ 🔨 ⛓️

Councillor Zaker Choudhry stopped by this morning for an introduction to all that we do as one of the city's oldest institutions, as well as a tour of changes we're making across departments.

Turns out laser safety glasses go pretty well with chains of office! 🏅 🕶

Thank you to the Lord Mayor for the interest in our work in consumer protection and for spending time with the team.

We're finalists!

Delighted to share that Birmingham Assay Office has been named a finalist at this year's The NAJ Awards in the Community Engagement of the Year category.

Our Careers Day back in March was a highlight of 2026, and our all-star line-up of partners, exhibitors, and speakers made it a spectacular event for our 150 guests.

While our place in the jewellery industry is often thought of as a regulatory one, it is our shared responsibility to engage the next generation and show them exactly what this industry has to offer.

We wanted to offer an interactive event that would educate and inspire, and we're so proud of the varied facets we got to present to our visitors, in what was a first interaction with the trade for many.

Another huge thank you to all of our partners, exhibitors, and speakers for all their hard work.

The day was an amazing show of community from the Quarter and beyond.
