The only thing that should be scary on a forklift is the decorations.

Load secure, forks low, eyes in the direction of travel. Even at Halloween.

Happy Halloween from everyone at DW Forklift Training.

Another group ready for peak season.

If you want to be qualified before Christmas hiring peaks, now's the time to book. November dates → dwforklifttraining.co.uk

The clocks went back yesterday. Darker mornings, darker yards.

Three things worth checking before every shift:

Lights and beacon working

Horn working. Pedestrians may not see you coming.

Hi-vis on, and extra care at doorways, where the light changes suddenly

Stay safe out there.

Short of forklift drivers for peak?

Taking on temporary staff for Black Friday and Christmas is one thing. Making sure they're trained, assessed and safe on the truck is another.

We run RTITB-accredited training at our Birmingham centre and on site across the Midlands:

• Novice courses for new starters
• Refreshers for existing operators
• Counterbalance, reach truck and PPT

Dates fill up fast once November arrives. Get in touch now → dwforklifttraining.co.uk

Nervous about your first time on a forklift? Good.

In our experience, the nervous ones often turn into some of the safest drivers. They slow down, they listen, and they check.

We've written about what people really worry about, and how training turns nerves into confidence.

How did you do?

Counterbalance: loading lorries and working in the yard.

Reach truck: narrow aisles and high racking.

PPT (powered pallet truck): moving pallets at ground level.

Three trucks, three courses, three different kinds of job. Not sure which suits the work you want?

Ask us → dwforklifttraining.co.uk

Three trucks. Three courses. Can you name all three?

Put your answers in the comments. We'll reveal them tomorrow.

Never driven a forklift? You don't need to.

Every course starts from the basics and builds up one step at a time, with an instructor beside you the whole way:

Get to know the truck: controls and pre-use checks

Practise driving in open space

Build up to handling loads and stacking

Your assessment

Your certificate

See our courses → https://zurl.co/hC2qp

Every one of them started somewhere.

Different backgrounds, different reasons, same result: certificate in hand.

Next could be you. Book your course → https://zurl.co/PrBAe

Myth or fact: you need a forklift licence to drive a forklift in the UK?

Tell us in the comments before you read on...

It's a myth. There's no government-issued forklift licence like a driving licence. What employers need is proof you've been properly trained and assessed on the truck you'll be using. That's what an accredited certificate gives you.
