Notice it. 👀
When you hear the word “should” — or notice yourself saying it — what happens in your body?
Do you feel it around your jaw? 😬
A tightening in your chest?
A heaviness in your shoulders?
Or perhaps your thoughts suddenly become louder? 💭
I should be…
I should have…
Life should look like…
I should be doing…
Sometimes “should” carries a lot of pressure. 🫶
So, just for today, notice it.
And when you catch it, take a breath. 🌿
Ask yourself:
“What if it didn’t have to be this way?”
What if you could loosen your grip on how you think life should be, should look, or what you should do?
Not because you don’t care about what you want. 🤍
But because there might be another way forward — one you can’t see yet.
Take a breath. 🌬️
Let go of the SHOULD.
And make a little more room for what is. ✨

🌼 Baby Blues or Postnatal Depression? Knowing the Difference or giving the right support or referral to the right help🌼
After having a baby, many new parents experience emotional ups and downs — but it can be hard to know what’s “normal” and what might be something more.
And should we just stop ✋ and listen.
As each person is different and can experience things differently.
Labels can be helpful but they also get in the way!
When you look at a list and may not “fit” the symptoms given you may discount what you are going through or feel you are failing, or just not doing well enough!
With the right help, recovery is absolutely possible 🌱
If your feelings don’t seem to be lifting after two weeks, or they’re getting stronger instead of easier, please know you are not alone — and reaching out for help is the bravest first step.

Stop 🛑 being anxious isn’t going to work!
If only it were that simple.
Your mind and body are deeply connected. After trauma, your nervous system can stay in survival mode — fight, flight or freeze — even when the danger has passed.
You may experience this as anxiety, fear, anger, sadness, shame or feeling disconnected.
These aren’t signs that you’re failing. They’re your body trying to protect you.
So rather than telling yourself to “stop being anxious”, we need to help your nervous system recognise that you are safe now.
Your body isn’t working against you.
It may be asking to be listened to.

That’s not easy is it? when anxiety overwhelms us - it’s not be as easy as just snapping out of it!!
⚡️Anxiety during your pregnancy or after birth can feel overwhelming.
⚡️Anxiety which suddenly can takes hold — in your chest, in your thoughts, in your body — it’s easy to feel powerless.
But there’s a gentle tool you can try.
🌱Rooted in the Human Givens College - Mental Health Training approach, it helps bring clarity and calm.
And when we meet it with understanding rather than fear it can soften.
The AWARE technique may help.
❤️🩹It’s a simple, compassionate way to work with your anxiety instead of against it.
Here’s how:
✨ A – Accept
Acknowledge your anxiety without shame.
“This is a natural response. It’s not my fault.”
You don’t have to fight it — just notice it.
✨ W – Watch
Observe what’s happening in your body and thoughts.
Where do you feel it? What’s the intensity?
Be curious, not critical. Just watch. Can I scale it 1-10
✨ A – Act
Do one small thing — even while the anxiety is there.
Get up. Make tea. Step outside.
Every small step is an act of reclaiming your life. Is that scale moving just a bit down from where it was
✨ R – Repeat
This is not a one-time fix.
Come back to these steps when you need them.
Each time you do, you’re teaching your brain: “I can handle this.”
✨ E – Expect the best
Know that anxiety will pass.
Even the smallest shift is progress.
You are healing — slowly, steadily, gently.
💛 You are not your anxiety. You are someone learning to meet it with kindness and calm.

I wasn’t prepared for this part of being a mum…
I wasn’t prepared for how much I would worry.
For loving someone so much that their pain could feel like my own.
For the guilt that can creep in when I’m exhausted and just want five minutes to myself.
For missing the old version of me while fiercely loving the new one.
For feeling touched out, overwhelmed and still wondering why I’m not enjoying every moment.
For the constant mental load of remembering everything for everyone.
For watching them grow and realising that every stage I wished for also meant saying goodbye to the one before it.
For needing my own mum sometimes… while being the mum.
For how motherhood can bring up parts of yourself you thought you had already dealt with.
For feeling incredibly grateful and completely overwhelmed — sometimes within the same five minutes.
And perhaps most of all…
I wasn’t prepared for how much I would need looking after too.
Because becoming a mum doesn’t mean you stop having needs.
Motherhood can be beautiful, exhausting, messy and enormous — all at the same time. 🤍
What part of motherhood surprised you the most?
