Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

We're excited to say that we're now stocking the new Hoy Weee 12" balance bikes!

We love these as they are a great price (£99.99), super light (only 3.84kg) have a 3 year warranty and make a perfect starter bike for children as young as 2 or sometimes even younger should your child be able to fit on them at a younger age (the recommended inner leg measurement is 30cm).

Obviously children will learn to ride a bike at different speeds, but make learning easier / quicker, in general we'd recommend:

- Starting as early as you can - this can even be as early as 1 around the house depending on the size of balance bike and child

- Getting a lightweight balance bike / bike as they will be easier to ride so your child will be more likely to want to ride

- Making learning / riding fun and of course getting your child a super cool accessory like a bell!

- Not using Stabilisers if possible (they teach the wrong things when learning to ride)

Pop in to either our Long Ashton / Southville store to see the bikes / chat further.

Now Stocking Gaerne Road Cycling Shoes...

Get Your Bike Marked & Registered for FREE!

On Saturday 5th July between 12:00 and 14:00 outside Bikesmiths in Long Ashton you can get your bike marked and registered for free!

The benefit of this is that not only can it deter thieves in stealing your bike, the police also have a greater chance of returning your bike to you.

The police use highly durable Tamper Resistant QR barcode labels (rather than any etching) which are applied to your bike and scanned with a smart phone to identify the bike on the BikeRegister website, and determine whether it is stolen.

All bikes can be marked, even carbon bikes should you wish (on the underside of the down tube).

**Did you know that Avon and Somerset police have one of the highest rates of return on stolen bikes in the UK?**

Now Stocking: LEATT

Leatt have a long history of producing cycling gear with the intention of reducing cycling injuries. Way back in 2004 they produced the Leatt Neck Brace and received multiple awards on the back of it.

We are now stocking Leatt helmets including kids and adult (general, gravel and MTB).

We especially love their 360 ̊ Turbine Technology feature in many of these helmets which are moving discs constructed from energy-absorbing shape and material.

This technology has two key advantages, namely the reduction of rotational acceleration to the head and brain and the absorption of energy upon impact at concussion level.

Have a look here to see how it works:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfcdC40iZ8I

There is of course a risk of injury when riding a bike, especially when riding at speed so products like this that can reduce the chance of injury are well worth the investment.
