On a course renowned for its quirks, contours, and unique challenges, Martin once again proved why he's one of the most consistent competitors in the Sartan ranks.

Producing a superb round of 35 points, the Wee Man kept himself firmly in contention throughout the day, navigating the fast-running fairways, awkward lies, and ever-present challenge of Stinchcombe Hill with trademark determination and resilience.

While the battle for first went right down to countback, Martin wasn't far behind, securing another podium finish and adding yet more valuable points to what is becoming a very impressive season.

Quietly going about his business, consistently putting scores on the board, and always there or thereabouts when the prizes are handed out. That's the mark of a serious competitor. 💪

While many players were battling the demanding closing stretch of one of the most unique courses on the Sartan calendar, Steve found another gear. Producing an excellent back nine score of 19 points, he mastered the challenge of Stinchcombe's undulating terrain and fast-running conditions when it mattered most.

The back nine at Stinchcombe asks plenty of questions. Steve had all the answers.

Composed, consistent, and finishing with real purpose, this was a superb performance that deserved recognition and reward.

🎉 Congratulations to Scott McCarthy – Front Nine Winner at Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club!

With the overall podium places taking priority in the prize allocation, Scott was next in line to claim the Front Nine honours, and thoroughly deserved it too.

On a course that offers little margin for error, Scott put together a superb opening nine holes, navigating the unique challenge of Stinchcombe Hill with confidence and consistency.

While others were battling the slopes, bounces, and unpredictable lies, Scotty Mac kept his scorecard ticking over and produced a front nine worthy of recognition.

One of the great things about Sartan Golf is that strong performances throughout the field are rewarded, and this was certainly one of them.

Our third event of the 2026 season took us to the spectacular Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club, where firm conditions, stunning views and a true test of golf created another unforgettable day for Sartan Golf members.

When the final scores were counted, it couldn't have been much closer...

🏆 Chris Cranshaw claimed victory on countback with 38 points
🥈 Phil Groves also finished on 38 points
🥉 Martin Curran secured third place with 35 points

Alongside a fiercely contested leaderboard, we saw front and back nine winners crowned, multiple nearest-the-pin prizes, an incredible 2 on a par 4 from Andy Ball, and more valuable fundraising for Alzheimer's Society.

Another team has booked their place in the Quarter Finals...

👏 Congratulations to Paul Wollacott & Martin Curran, who advance to the last eight of the Doubles Knockout Championship 2026!

This was never going to be straightforward.

Standing in their way were two of Sartan Golf's most experienced and respected competitors, seasoned campaigners who know exactly how to navigate knockout golf and are never beaten easily.

What followed was a closely fought battle throughout, with neither side willing to give an inch. Every hole was hard earned, every advantage fiercely contested, and momentum swung back and forth as both pairings produced some excellent golf.

In the end, Paul and Martin showed tremendous composure and teamwork to edge their way through, securing a deserved place in the Quarter Finals.

With Paul's impressive form continuing from the opening two events of the season and Martin proving once again why he's one of the toughest competitors in the society, this partnership is gathering momentum at exactly the right time.

After racing into a commanding lead on the front nine, the pair made full use of their shots advantage, matching their opponents blow for blow/hole for hole to put themselves firmly in control of the tie.

But knockout golf is never straightforward.

We dont normally name the defeated parties in these posts, but Connor Wilkins and Jason Baldwin mounted a such a superb comeback over the closing back nine, their efforts in gradually chipping away at the deficit to force the match beyond 18 holes and into sudden death, is worthy of applause.

However, with the pressure at its highest and the margin for error gone, Chris and Joff held their nerve on the 19th hole and cashed in some lady luck to finally get the job done and secure their place in the last eight, with a chance of winning the much coveted prize of a Spanish Golfing Holiday, courtesy of our sponsors Golf Travel Centre.

This was a match packed with momentum swings, quality golf, and plenty of drama. Exactly what knockout golf is all about.
